So yesterday I had the OB sweep my membranes (I'm 40w5d today). Last night I had cramps and had a hard time sleeping. At 1:00am I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. Contractions, at least I think they were contractions, started around then. They happened about every 15 minutes all night long. It felt like a sort of sharp pain in my lower abdomen. The fact that they lasted around a minute and came fairly regularly leads me to think they were contractions - they definitely felt different than the BH I've been having. I finally fell asleep around 4am, only to be awoken every 15 minutes by these contractions.
In the morning, 7am, I am still having them, but not as regularly. All throughout the day I'm having them, but there is no pattern. Sometimes they are 30 minutes apart, sometimes 5 minutes apart. I had a ton while watching Harry Potter, then again they slowed down. I layed down a bit ago and fell asleep, only to be awoken by another one (yeah, the pain is that sharp). Does it sound like something is wrong - should they feel like that? Now I'm really tired but don't want to lay down again because they hurt a lot more when I'm lying down.
Is this the beginning of labor, or "false" labor?
