Baby Clive arrived at 2:51 am on July 18 (his due date.) Labor was quick and relatively easy. Contrax began around 4PM on Friday, but they weren't difficult until we got into the car at 1:25am. The baby arrived about an hour after we got to the hospital and barely 10 minute after my OB arrived. (I wasn't in that much pain when I was laboring at home...no idea how I was 7-8 cm upon arrival.) The nurses were screaming at me not to push because my OB wasn't there yet, and I was screaming back at them that I couldn't not push. I was able to have a completely natural delivery, and they didn't even have time to give me a saline lock (which was supposedly required). I was really only in bad pain for about 30 minutes. I do have a second degree tear, but overall I feel pretty good. Clive is 7 lbs 1 oz and 20" long.
BTW, my labor with DD was LONG. I had an epi that failed (well, they forgot to connect me to the pump until I was 8cm), and I pushed for 1:45. Although nothing traumatic happened, it was a pretty crappy labor experience. I'm amazed at how "easy" and quick this labor was in comparison. So for those of you first time moms who had difficult labors, the next one might be super easy.
