normal progression?

I am confused, sad, possibly concerned...

DS has been an avid nurser since he was born. He nursed about every hour to hour and a half until he was about 4 months old. From 4-7 months he nursed about every 1 3/4 to 2 hours. We started solids with him at 6.5 months, because he met all the signs. We have done it super, super slowly, and there were many days that he didn't want solids at all.

Lately though it seems like he is not nursing much - going 2.5-3 hours at a time. DS will be 9 months next week. He also only nurses for a few minutes at a time (which he has always done). He has also been wanting a lot more solids and a lot more frequently. I feel full almost all day now.

Is this normal? Are we giving him too many solids? Is there a book or something out there that goes through this process? None of my friends have done clw. Between being interested in so many new things, crawling, and solids I just kind of feel like he is not nursing enough...

My son was exactly like that, except I started solids at 5 months. I knew that I was not "supposed" to until 6 months, but he was completely ready and had all signs of readiness. He started slowing WAAAAYYYYY down at around 9 months and I started to get really worried. It turned out to be totally a phase and he is now 27 months and still nursing at least a half dozen times a day minimum.

My son slowed down his nursing at approx 4 months. He decided he was too busy during the day and dropped to 5 nursings all through the evening and at night. It lasted approx 6 weeks , then he gradually started nursing during the day again but only 5-6 times. We didn't introduce solids until 6 months. He did gradually increase his nursing frequency - we were back up to around 10 bf at 2 years but have backed off gradually and hover about 4-5bf at just turned 3.

that sounds normal to me. DD stretched her feedings out a lot more once she was eating a lot of solids. but she's still nursing 6+ times a day at 26 months. i'm actually working on getting her nursing sessions down to a more predictable routine, just because i don't really like nursing on demand at this age.
