Wow, I can't imagine a bedroom big enough for one of those and a bed, too. I guess I've lived in tiny places so long it blows my mind. We would set ours up in the living room. Our bedroom barely fits the bed and dressers.

So is this the best tub for a homebirth, for the money? Is it soft on the bottom?

To my knowledge the bottom of the pool is inflatable too, so it's puffy under you instead of just being hard on top of the flooring. Yup, definitely the cheapest pool option.

It is soft on the bottom! I used it in Nov for E's birth, and it was great. I am also 5' 10" and it was deep enough. I ordered it on amazon last year, and just checked again. The price is almost twice what I paid last year! Crazy!!

Just catching up. The one from Red's is a real Intex pool. It's on their dropdown menu under "Inflatables/Intex" but I just linked everyone to the site. It's also 22" and NOT 20" like the website mistakenly says.

My fishy pool arrived about a week ago (was $26 total). I wrote on my blog about DH and mine's adventure with a trial run last weekend and posted in my DDC about it, but thought I'd cross-post here. There's a couple of photos I took and you can see how small our office is. The 60" fits a little snugly in the office, but you can still move around it (and DH FINALLY cleaned the office up today so it's not so cluttered!). For the record, I'm 5'7 and baby weight has put me past 250. : Can't wait for it all to come off, I've never been this heavy! The pool was awesome for me. Love the squishy bottom!

Your post about the fishy pool was the reason I bought it from Red's. Thanks so much for the info! Loved all the info in your blog post too -- you pretty much answered all of the questions I had. Looking forward to reading about your birth now!

Found fishy pool at walmart

Hi, I cant believe I found the fishy pool for $26 at my local walmart on Maui. We so not have target and things are hard to find on this island. It must be meant to be. I could have rented la bassin from my midwife for $50.

Question about hands and knees position in fishy pool

For those of you who used or are planning to use the fishy pool, can you get down on all fours in the pool? I didn't have a labor pool with my last HB, but an thinking about it this time because I had such intense back labor last time. However, I will have to be able to get on my hands and knees in it. Any input about this? BTW, I'm only 5'1".

Thanks so much for posting your review! I'm trying to squeeze the pool into a tight space too and I'm going to buy this one

Yup, I'm 5'4" and had no problem giving birth on all fours.

The fishy pool is great. I got it from yourwaterbirth.com with some other supplies. We inflated it for our 37 week home visit and left it upside down on the full-size bed in the guest room. On the ground, it fit VERY snugly-- it was butted up on three sides by a wall, the bed, and the dresser. It felt *large* to me, but I am petite-- 5'2". I labored and birthed on my knees, so the inflatable bottom was key, and it was definitely deep enough. I would not have wanted it an inch deeper, because once my baby was out his cord was so short that I had trouble keeping his face above water and had to get out to birth the placenta. I was glad the bed was *right there!*
