travel to puerto rico with newborn

My niece is due in Oct. she wants to travel to puerto rico possibly sometime in feb. of next year to see the grandparents. She is planning on delaying all vax until at least 2 yrs. but she is concerned about traveling outside of the U.S. with a non-vaxed newborn. I told her it's nothing to be worried about.
I'd like your opinions on this. Was I right in telling her not to worry about it? And if not, what could she do?
Thanks

There's nothing I'd worry about going to Puerto Rico.

what exactly is she concerned about?

haha I'm not exactly sure! I think she's just overwhelmed by all this vax stuff she's reading! The grandparents live out in the'country-side' so I guess there are more germs out there!
I told her that PR is just like the US! She'll be BFing too and I told her that's the best defense! Any other suggestions for helping me ease her concerns?

P.R. is the U.S. so what's the problem?

I just asked her and she's mostly concerned about the air travel, being on a plane with people who may expose the baby to something. I just told her that
that is possible anywhere, not just on a plane. She understands. Thanks for your help

The stuff she is going to get on a plane is:

A. No different from anything she would get anywhere else

and

B. Not something she would likely be vaxed for...colds etc.

I just want to agree with the PPs. I'm from the Virgin Islands which is about 30 miles away from Puerto Rico and I can tell you that she has nothing to worry about. Since we are under the US flag we have the same vax requirements as people in the states, thus anything you'd get flying from NC to TX is likely what you'd get flying from NC to Puerto Rico.

I took my unvaxed 13mth son to PR (during the start of the swine flu scare) and we had no issues. My husband did come down with a horrible (non-H1N1) flu while we were there but we didn't catch it.

We've traveled to PR a bunch of times since DD was 3 months old. The only thing I've heard that they have and we don't is a mosquito born illness.

Our daughter was born outside the US (Korea) and wasn't vaxed. We came home when she was 6mo. She's now 19mos & has been sick twice in her life - both times in the US.
