Want to make a new purse/bag

I saw one at Wal-Mart ( for like $10, but thought it would be more fun to make my own. It was like this one, but the fabric was floral. I'd make it slightly larger as well.

What type of fabric would be good for it? I would be using this a LOT, and it would have to last a long time. Obviously denim is a good choice, but that's too boring for me.

What about using upuolstry(sp.) fabric. It would be heavier.

Most upolstery fabric I've seen is very expensive. I guess I'll just keep looking for something, or just end up buying the one I saw.

Check out thrift stores and garage sales for vintage upholstery fabric!

I'm not sure what you've got in your area, but here on the Eastern side of Wisconsin I find lots of fun vintage fabrics that work well for purses.

How about corduroy? I have seen some very cute floral designs by Hilco. They have them in some on-line stores and you might even stumble over a sale

It's so hard to decide on what to get! I see so many gorgeous prints that I can't decide. I'll use anything that is durable.

I love this print with this one on the inside, and this one. Haven't found a print for the inside to go with the last one yet though.
