I am going to get ds a pair of the vibram/sof-touch ramblers, but I was also thinking about a pair of regular mocs for his classroom slippers (his school encourages slippers in the classroom). He loves purple and they have a pair of purple mocs with suede bottoms that they say are "indoor/outdoor". If he can really wear them outside too (at least for the early fall/warm, dry days) I would feel a bit better about the price tag . I suppose I could consider the reinforced "grippy" style.... They are cute, but they are not purple (and I jusy can't justify the extra cost of "design your own" to get both).

So- anyone's older kiddos actually use suede bottom moccasins outside for their "regular" shoe? How do they hold up to rough-and-tumble 5 yr old boy play? Tree-climbing? Grass running? bike riding? Playing ball on the pavement? You know...? Do they get poked through or torn? Worn down? I don't expect them to last through everything, but I want his feet to be safe and I don't want to waste money by ruining them outside.

Anyone have experience with the "grippy roo" outside if not suede?
