I'm planning a birth center birth in GA, but may hafta use the hospital instead. can anyone fill me in on whether they're back to pushing the hepB vax on newborns in the hosp?

Yes, it's standard operating procedure. We just said we would wait & have our ped do it (not). We weren't hassled at all. Keep an eye out tho because they're so used to doing it, it's easy for them to forget you don't want it. I think giving the ped line might work better than "we're not doing it at all".

as a momma who's beloved firstborn died as a result of the newborn Hep B vaccine, i would also suggest declining at the hospital and using the line " we we be doing any vaccination at our pediatricians office when we go for well baby visits. Not a lie since IF you were to decide to do any vaccines you would do them at your chosen pediatrician they don't need to be told that you don't plan on doing any at all anyway

Don't let your baby out of your sight at the hospital. There are a pathetic amount of babies that receive this shot while the nurses have them, even when the nurses have been told not to.

If you tell them your ped. is going to give it at the first check up there should be no problems at all.
