So last night around 10, I went to the washroom and a huge gush of blood came out. Of course I freaked out and we called the midwife, who met us at the hospital. (Luckily my mom is in town and was here to watch DD). They found the heartbeat right away and the baby started kicking. My midwife said that it looked like there was some cervical erosion that could be causing the bleeding and that the cervix was still long and closed. I go for an ultrasound this morning to rule out bleeding from the placenta and placental separation.

Please cross your fingers that it is just my sensitive cervix and that the placenta is ok. (It's not previa, as the 20 week ultrasound showed my placenta nice and high away from the cervix) I'm a little freaked out, as we are only at 21 weeks. The bleeding has stopped, so I'm feeling a bit more hopeful.

I'll update this afternoon

Update

So I had my ultrasound this morning. The good news is the baby looks great. The bad is that there is a placental bleed. I'm not sure what this means at this point, as I'm waiting to hear back from the midwife. The doctor in ultrasound said to take it easy and all we can do is wait.

I'm really hoping this resolves on it's own *sigh*

I'm so relieved to hear the babe is doing well. Keep us updated on what this means for you...

Glad to hear the babe is doing well. If it's any consolation, I had a subchorionic hematoma (blood clot) burst at 5 weeks and bled for 3-4 days. It was very frightening but the placenta is amazing and can heal sometimes. I haven't had any bleeding since.

I hope everything turns out ok mamma.

OMG, that would be very scary. I am so sorry you are dealing with this right now. Does extra rest and stuff help, or? I will be thinking of you...

Yikes! I'm glad baby is doing okay. IME bleeds are always scary--no matter what the cause. I hope your placenta heals itself and you have no further problems!

I'm glad to hear that Baby is doing okay, but I can imagine how scary the experience is for you. I'm guessing you may need to get a good book for a little bedrest. Please keep us posted! You're in my thoughts!
