Looks like I officially get to join in - have been lurking a bit...
We are so exicted to welcome Jake into our family. We spent ALOT of time researching dogs, meeting 'dog people', and figuring out what would be best for our family. At first my husband was against a rescue dog becaues it made him very uneasy not knowing a dogs full history with all our kids in the family (4 ages 9, 7, 4, 20m), but after talking with some people we decided to at least look into it. That is how I found Jake!
His mom was found on the side of the road and an amazing couple took her in - low and behold 2 weeks later she gave birth to 13 puppies in their bedroom (2 days after Christmas even!) One of them was Jake. This couple is the BEST - they had no desire to just hand those puppies out, so they have kept them with their mother and contacted a rescue group. These puppies (and mom!) have stayed in their house under their foster care the whole time. They have taken such good care of them, and have even started some dog training with them. Jake is the 5th to be adopted out. He is a mixed flat-coated retriever.
Jake is so SWEET! He is calm and mellow. I have yet to hear him bark, see him jump or anything (although it has only been a day LOL!) He is AMAZING with the kids - just rolls with them. He is housebroken and walks on a leash so well. I can't believe he is only 6 months old!
