Which lapharp?

Thread Starter
My dd (age 7) has gotten interested in learning the lap harp- and I was hoping someone here could refer me to a good one they have used, or tell me which ones to stay away from? I know there are a few options on Amazon, and that Heathsongs sells one- I'd like to get a good one, but not spend a fortune.

Thanks!

We bought the Music Maker Harp from Rainbow Resource Center. We chose this one because it has a number of music that you could buy for it (including Jewish music, and since we are Jewish, that was the deciding factor). You can also buy Old Time Favorites, Patriotic, Romantic Ballads, Russian, Toddler Tunes, Beatles, Children's Favorites, Christmas, Classical, Cowboy, Disney, Favorite Hymns, and International Music. However, all of these lapharps are hard to tune and have strings that break easily (if you have a music store nearby, they may be able to tune or fix the strings for you). I have not heard good things about First Discovery Lapharp that is sold at Walmart and Amazon.com. Also, just as a warning, the Music Maker Harp that I bought does not have the same tuning as the Melody Harp that jazzharmony bought from Hearthsong, so you cannot interchange the music. The First Discovery Lapharp (sold in Walmart) is too small to fit the music from either the Melody Harp or the Music Maker Harp.
