Can I make dish cloths from acrylic yarn?

I would like to make some dish cloths but all of the yarn I have on hand is acrylic. I know cotton yarn is standard, but I want to use up what I have on hand. Will acrylic work? The label says 100% washable.

You can, but they won't be absorbent; they would be useful for scrubbing, but not wiping up messes.

agree! they'd probably be great for scrubbing messy dishes but wouldn't wipe well or get wet.
