Help with transitioning from diaper service

We've been using a diaper service since DD was born, because at the time we lived in an apartment situation in which cleaning our own cloth would have been a nightmare. Plus, I have loved not ever having to wash diapers.

However, we now live in our own home and can wash our own dipes, so I would like to phase out the diaper service for now. DD is now almost 2 and weighs 24 pounds. We use prefolds with covers during the day, so I own plenty of covers for use with prefolds, and buying some prefolds to replace the diaper service ones seems pretty straight forward. Washing them does, too.

However, I don't know what to use for overnight and longer trips out. We've been using sposies for those situations a while now, : because the prefold/cover combo leaks for us in those situations. But I would like to get rid of the sposies and go back to all cloth. I would like to use something very simple if possible, like an AIO, but I don't want it to leak (we have a family bed).

I'm willing to invest $ in a good solution, especially because we are hoping we'll be able to use whatever we get with another babe down the road. If you were me, what would you get for nighttime diapering and the occasional long trip out?

I'm really enjoying drybee's bamboo fitted diapers for overnights. They absorb a ton! Take a while to get them dry.

I found our local shop and they gave me a trial period with a bunch of diapers, you might want to do the same if you can find one.

Hi,
What we do at night with no leaks is use a Mommy's Touch onesize aio and lay a extra help insert in it and put a cover over it. We also use other onesize diapers, pocket diapers but since you said easy and a aio. I recommend a Mommy's Touch. : ) The onesize will grow with your baby so you don't have to worry about sizes.
Good luck

I love the BGs AIO for night. They are AIO, but have a pocket if you need a little extra. We'll put a hemp doubler in when we need it.

I use prefolds and just double-up when we go out. I'd do the same at night, but i've covered old diapers with fabric, which makes them extra thick.

If your baby can't move well this way, then it's probably not a good idea. The diapers i use to double-up are old and, therefore, thin, but they're good for several hours.

With Ds I used a prefold with a night time doubler I forget by who and a fleece or wool cover. We are going to use a diaper service with the new baby and i cannot wait STBDH said that if I want to I can use it until potty training but I am not to sure if I want to for so long but love the idea of not washing and stripping diapers all the time!!! and they will wash our own covers if we want and if there is a poo blow out they will wash the messy outfit!! so i am thrilled to use them they also will lanilize our wool if we buy wool and they will for free!!!!!!!! I never had leaks with Ds maybe like 3 or 4 in all his diapering days. I would make sure to get double layer fleece if you use it at night. Good luck and sorry about the ramble

Thanks for all the suggestions! We ended up getting the Drybees Bamboo fitteds, and I really like them. We use them with some new Bummi's Superbrites, which has helped to expand our collection of covers for the prefolds, too. Now that I am getting the hang of using the Drybees, I think I am going to get some fitted dipes as well as pre-folds to replace the diaper service stash.

DD loves the Drybees, too, especially the rainbow edging, and is always asking if she can "pee-pee in the rainbow". :-)

The best overnight solution I've found is to put a super-do in any pocket diaper. Kids rarely leak out of these because they are SO super absorbant. Great overnight solution!
