do juicers have toxic plastics?

DP and I are going to buy a juicer. While researching different models, I ran across something on the Champion site that says the pieces can't be put in the dishwasher because it's stainless tell laminated with nylon. Can the nylon get into the juice and would that be harmful?

Is there a juicer that doesn't use a plastic collection vessel?

Oh, and open to opinions on Vitamix too. We want to juice (or possibly just blend if we splurge on a Vitamix) vegetables including leafy greens.

DP has cancer, so staying away from toxic plastics is a priority.

Thanks

I don't know about the champion juicer, but the newest model vita-mix is advertising that its container is completely bpa free. I 'think' all other blender containers made of plastic contain bpa. And on that note, all but (I think) two food processor brands have work bowls that contain bpa... and they're not kitchenaid or cuisinart. So sad as those are the industry leaders for home food processors. And of course I have a very expensive kitchenaid fp that I used to use every day until I read about this.

The new model of the Vita-Mix blender, the 5200, is BPA-, PVC-, and phthalate-free. The jar is made of Tritan copolymer, the new plastic Nalgene and others are using for hard plastic sports bottles. You can purchase it from Vita-Mix's website. Please note that all other Vita-Mix blenders have polycarbonate jars, and thus contain BPA

That came from here:

I just wanted to add, though, about the vita-mix.... My mom said that her vita-mix jar is made of stainless and it is not a new model. So maybe that would be an option for you?
