How best to hang party decorations without destroying ceiling?

So I'm throwing my son a large, messy party on Saturday and it might rain.:

My backup plan is the garage. I plan to get those table covers in the huge rolls to hang from the ceiling around the perimeter of the garage to cover all our stuff (and hopefully stop any temptation to play in it all) and make it more festive. The problem is that my garage ceiling is painted drywall. It is also tall - maybe 15 feet - so the hangings are going to be big and somewhat heavy.

How best to hang so they will stay up and not destroy the ceiling?

Pushpins?

Staplegun?

Hockey tape?

Other?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

i would ancher an eye hook into the walls, not ceiling and strign wire between like a curtain rod, then you can attach anything to it-it would be stronger than the ceiling

We did this for our wedding. We put hooks in the walls and used fishing line to connect the hooks. We were able to hang paper lanterns all over with just a few holes in the wall.
Depending on where exactly in your garage you need to cover up you could put the hooks in the ceiling or the wall and hang the covers from the wire that connects them.
