Bathing a 9 month old

For the past few months we have been bathing DD in http://www.diapers.com/Product/Produ...productid=6495

We love it! However, I read that once baby can pull to standing, you should discontinue use. Now I'm not sure what to bathe her in!

What do you do for bathing? Is she too young to sit in the tub without anything? She is crawling and can pull herself up to standing. I'm just so nervous about her hitting her head on the hard tub!

DD is 10 mo old and I just put in her in the tub without anything anymore. The first time or two she wanted to crawl around and quickly learned she didn't like the water splashing up onto her face from it. Now she just sits and plays, she likes to suck on a washcloth. She has only hit her head on the tub once, and it was very lightly. She does try to stand up holding on to the side alot, and I just sit her back down and tell her no. They learn pretty quickly what works and what doesn't

As soon as mine outgrew the kitchen sink, they simply sit in the tub. My last one didn't outgrow the sink until about 10 months old or so.

Mine always enjoyed crawling around/splashing/walking. Sure, they fell every once in a while - it's life and they're fine!

Mine have all sat in the regular tub as soon as they were able to sit well unassisted.

I usually just put DD in the bottom of the tub when I shower. If I give her her own bath, she's in the big tub. We've had no problems with falling.

Thanks, everyone! I guess we'll give it a shot. I definitely like the idea of her sitting in the tub while I shower! That should save lots of time

We invested in an $8 Ikea tub during this transition. Our DD is VERY active in the bathtub so some containment helps me manage her. It also allows her to be in slightly deeper which I think she really likes (like swimming in a pool) and it keeps her warmer. And it saves water not having to fill up the whole big tub.

I think I'm going to try putting her in with me when I shower. It could be a circus, but I deserve to shower more than I'm getting to at this point!!

My husband just always sits in there with him. Can you do that?

Someone here suggested bathing dd in a plastic laundry basket in the tub. Whoever it was....is a genius! I have a hand-held shower sprayer in the tub, so dd sits in the laundry basket and I rinse her off, and there's about an inch of water in the basket for her to splash in. Works great! And there's no baby tub to store, because it just goes back in the laundry room.

I've never used anything but the regular tub. I often bathe with him 'cause quite frankly it's uncomfortable to sit on the floor beside the tub while he plays & I end up soaked anyway.

I do sometimes bathe with DD, but only if DH is home to help. I just think its too much trouble by myself as I like to shower after a bath. A lot of the times she needs a bath and it has to be quick.

Love the laundry basket idea. I might give that a try, too!

We were gifted a plain old baby bathtub when DD was born. One that the kids have to sit up to use. I'm still using it for DS and hopefully will for a while. I like that it saves a lot of water. He enjoys bathing with DD but she likes her water quite a bit deeper so we don't do that very often.

Yeah, I get soaked - he LOVES splashing and has no problem with water in his face. But it's still my preference. When he's too big for the little tub (all too soon) I'll do what I do with DD  - I have a non-slip mat I put on the bottom of the tub - it helps. She doesn't like bathing without it because she doesn't like the slippery feeling.

We have one of these:http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-White-Hot-Inflatable-Duck/dp/B000066665 (it's an inflatable tub--"these tubs are great when your baby has outgrown an infant tub and is able to sit unassisted but still not big enough for a full tub")

I have yet to use it (I think I will try it out this week) but I think it will address all your concerns!!! :)

We just got that duckie tub for Hanukkah the other night! Looking forward to trying it out.

I don't know why I didn't think of it before - but a few inches of warm water in the bath is SO much for my 7 month old (who is crawling/pulling to stand).  I just put him in there and he splashes about crawling back and forth in the bath!  He loves it so much!  A few inches is enough to have fun in (and more than enough to get clean - though he isn't exactly dirty anyhow!) - yet shallow enough for him to be able to move about it.  I filled it up even more when I got in there with him - maybe 5 inches deep...and that was too much for him cause if the water was sloshing about, he wasn't as sturdy as he normally would be - but that was't a problem as I was in there.  I mostly bathe with him when he has a bath as it is nice to do - but he also enjoyes splashing about with his brother now or something just for fun when we are stuck in doors becasue of the icy/snowy weather!

I still use a baby bath for my 8mo old. I love it bc you can make half of it incline for little babes and since he's been able to sit it's all flat, enough room to sit, but not crawl. I give DS a bath every night as part of our bedtime ritual, I don't want him to grow out of his bath bc I hate to have to fill the whole tub (making sure it's clean, too) every night for him! Plus, he's CRAZY, so it'll be a handful. Though he does sometimes bathe with me, which is fun:)

Elsa never liked the baby bathtub when she was very small.  As soon as she could sit up I started bathing her in the kitchen sink, and then I started putting her in the big tub when she was maybe six months old.  Lately I've been using her baby tub again and putting it in the big tub because I feel like I'm using less water that way.  Plus our drain was having a problem with being slow for awhile and I was getting a lot of soapscum buildup that I didn't want her to be sitting in.

Love the laundry basket idea! We always bath in the big tub. I use a mesh sling thing that someone once handed down to me until they can sit ok. I am going to try that laundry basket idea as soon as my lo is sitting up.

I just take her in a full tub with me - she loves it & we find it pretty calming. If DH can't help, it's just a quick sponge bath. She's not very dirty, but I like to do it as often as possible just because she loves it.
