Suggestions for resources that compare/contrast Christian religions?

I looked on amazon, but the books that came up, all seem geared to the theology student. I would like to read a good summary of the fundamental differences of Christian religions/denominations.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

TIA!!

The Ontario Religious Tolerance site has a lot of good information about lots of different religions. Here is their page describing different ways Christian denominations can be compared and categorized. They also have some compare and contrast articles that you might find helpful:

Roman Catholics and Conservative Protestants
Conservative, Mainline, and Liberal Wings in Protestantism
Conflicts Within Mainline Protestant Denominations

If you're looking for a really quick overview, there's a series of books called How to be a Perfect Stranger that are basically intended for people who have been invited to a ceremony or event in another religion. So a very quick description of what the group believes, their history, how they worship, what to expect, what is appropriate for or expected of a guest, etc.

The series isn't really a theology course, or intended as a one stop shop for "what group X believes" but I've seen them in several libraries and they're not bad in terms of giving a quick side by side comparison of different faiths.

I was going to suggest the religious tolerance site too.

Also, you might want to try BeliefNet as well as this chart http://www.religionfacts.com/christi...ns_beliefs.htm

There is a book called Separated Brethren which is the best example of this kind of thing I have ever seen. It is a very old book but revised for each new edition. The author, William Whalen, is Roman Catholic, but he maintains a reasonable objectivity. Each denomination's tenets and practices are described briefly, simply and clearly, according to what the actual members believe, and it is intended for lay people rather than scholars.
