Little legs and Peace Fleece

I have a ton of PF and not much other wool. So, I am knitting many soakers, but have done the waste and leg ribbing in a softer wool/silk blend so far. Has anyone had success with PF in Longies...meaning: Did your LO complain or rub/scratch the legs constantly? I know PF gets the halo from mohair, and it drives me a little nuts. Wondering if my new LO will mind or just go with the flow...

DS has been in PF soakers all morning and will be in longies in the fall. No complaints here PF softens up with each washing while staying the workhorse yarn it is

I don't know if I'd put it on a newborn's legs- but then, it seems like mohair has more halo on the knit side than the purl anyhow. If that's what you've got, use it

Thanks mamas.
Helen, I have finished my newborn/smalls already, and had enough Malabrigo and HPY to make those longies. So, these will only go on baby once we've hit several months old.

my DS HATES anything made with PF... he finds it very scratchy and itchy. I think he's the odd one out though, most kids I've met don't mind it.

DD#1 never complained or fidgeted once with her PF longies. DD#2 just couldn't wear them. She would scream and scream and wouldn't even walk, she would just stand there and scream. She is fine with PF soakers, but couldn't do the longies. So, I think it totally depends on the child.

I have certainly found different colors of the PF to yield different softness. I had 2 skeins of the Antarctic White dyed by WWbN and they were DEFINITELY softer than my solid PF skeins (and they softened up even more w/ each washing). I have a few soakers in the Negotiation Grey that are REALLY soft after about 2 washings (1 of them was NB size, too). I have a pair of longies in the Father's Grey that are scratchier than my other PF things.

And as a pp mentioned, it really depends on the child. I do like PF for the crawling stage though b/c it resists felting really well and doesn't wear as quickly as other yarns I've used.

The crawling stage is probably when these will be just hte right fit, too. I will likely put them through a few washes before they fit, too.

Thanks for the responses. DD never had PF longies. Her scratchiest were Cascade 220, which isn't really scratchy at all, so...

Way to make a girl feel inadequate... we're giving up on fitteds and using just pockets with River and the noob. Congratulations, though!

And yeah, just knit the longies. Skye wore PF at, oh, 8 months or so with no complaints...

New baby has no handknits. River has barely any handknits. Skye- well, she doesn't have any handknits either, and let's not talk about the big boys. I'm a bad, bad, bad knitter :

But hey, the silk shawl I'm working on looks good

Oh Helen!! Believe me...I haven't been knitting at all until recently. When I found out I was pregnant, after having given ALL of my cd supplies away a couple of years ago, I jumped on the knitting. I have only knit soakers for about 2 months now...hence my quantity. I think I feared having *nothing* and that fueled the knitting fire!!
