Stick with your instincts, Mama!

We have two intact boys, ages 5y and 3.5y.

ZERO PROBLEMS EVER.

Much easier to care for than my nephews who are circ'd - one of whom has a very buried penis afterward.

And, on the pro side, unusually mentioned, is that (in my experience), intact boys do not spray when diapers are changed. I attribute that to the sensitive nerves being covered/protected, and therefore not so aware that they're "free in the wind" so to speak. I'm sure that some intact boys do spray, but neither of our two ever sprayed anyone, so far as we know. Nor do they spray in/around the toilet now.

All I can tell you is that I am sooooo thankful, every stinking day, that I did not allow my boys' penises to be surgically altered for cosmetic reasons. I am not sure, had I allowed them to be circ'd, that I would have the same feeling -- I think that every time I saw the "altered state" of their penises, I would be angry/sad that I allowed it to happen.

Hang in there, stick with your instincts, and don't worry at all about "care" - it's very simple, and as nature intended.

Really don't worry about it at all. Except to make sure nobody tries to retract his foreskin.

I have 3 boys (5.5, almost 3, and 7 months) and they have NEVER had any problems or issues.

Poop can't get in there as there's a muscle that keeps the foreskin opening shut except to let urine through.

I also have a 7 year old DD and her poopy diaper changes were much more involved than the boys ever have been!

I have two intact sons ages 2 and 3.5. They have never been retracted. We clean them like you would any other body part. They like to play with themselves in the bath water, but other than that their penises are left alone. We've never had issues with either boy.

I amsure a girl whose labia have been removed is easier to clean as well, but that is NOT a reason to remove a body part! I hate cleaning toe nails... but I do it.... I don't just rip them out.

I think there is a huge majority of people who NEVER have foreskin issues, but they have no reason to post on a forum proclaiming their lack of issues. The people who post about foreskin issues are a small minority.

I have two boys, both intact and no problems.

I have a cut (and restoring) DH with meatal stenosis. This condition is almost unheard of in intact men and boys.

DH has so far had 3 procedures to correct this and not has additional scarring because of it. His Urologist was the one who suggested restoring to keep the problem from recurring yet again.

You are more likely to have a problem with a circumcision-- the thread you looked at is primarily there because many doctors are completely ignorant about the intact penis and as a resource for parents who have questions.

Hopeful Mam, you've already gotten a ton of responses, but mine is a little different - my twin sons are almost 15, and have never had a problem (other than a couple of yeast infections as babies, but those were on their bottoms, not their penises).

Boys were are circumcised are much more likely to need surgery (to deal with circumcision complicaitons) than boys who are intact. So you can leave your son's penis alone, and almost guarantee that he will never have to be circumcised later in life, OR you can sign him up for an operation that he doesn't need, and set him up for possibly needing more surgery (that he wouldn't have needed if he'd been left alone in the first place).

My ds is not circumcised and has not had any issue at all. He's 6.

One intact 7 year old boy here with zero problems ever.

Now, my non-potty-trained 20 month old dd, who poops 3-4 times a day and is still bf so it's all loose....now THAT is a helluva mess on a regular basis around the nooks and crannies.

I have a 17 Y/O intact son. He has never had an infection, ballooning, spraying, pain, swelling, redness, ect... He did have a Dr. that tryed to retract him when he was about 6 months and I did notice that his penis had turned blue once and that worried me until I got the nerve up to ask him about it and he told me it was lint (he had been cliff diving with friends while wearing blue boxers)
