HELP PLEASE! Buspar safe?

Thread Starter
I am in the same spot with DD who is 3 mo as I was with my son. I have tired many natural remedies and homeopathy in the past for my depression/anxiety, but have had to rely on Zoloft. It generally works great for me, but now I am experiencing PPD again.

I was diagnosed with postpartum post traumatic stress disorder. I am having anxiety attacks as well as hallucinations about hurting my baby (which I would never do). This is EXACTLY what happened with my son. At the time I was prescribed Buspar and told to stop breastfeeding which I did. The Buspar worked great.

I Don't want to stop breastfeeding DD, but I need HELP! My OB is okay with me taking Buspar 10mg for the anxiety, but because I was told not to breastfeed on it with my son, I am hesitant.

Does anyone have any info on this?

I would recommend that you check out Dr. Hale's site and search Buspar: http://neonatal.ttuhsc.edu/lact/medi...orumspage.html

Of course, no one is able to guarantee the safety of any medication, but I do believe he has said that he considers the drug "safe" and that breastfeeding can and should continue

I wish I could help you!! I took Buspar too, for anxious depression. Not pregnancy related. It worked like a dream for me. I really don't know if it's okay when you're breastfeeding.
