kefir question

I just received some kefir and am enjoying it. I am about to go out of town for a week. Can I keep it in the fridge in milk? I could take it if I had to, but I would rather not.

Milk kefir grains can be placed in a small amount of milk and stored in the fridge (with a lid on the container). Water kefir grains should be placed in fresh sugar water in the fridge (again with a lid on). Both can be fine that way for up to a few weeks.
