I'm planning my 4th homebirth, my first (20 years ago in Nov!) was a C/S.

I wish I could home birth... but I have too many risk factors... I will have a midwife and doula though, so that is good!

Yep! It'll be my 2nd VBAC (my 3rd child).

I am! I had a c/s in June 2006.

Kiki, I too miscarried in my May cycle, my next period started June 12... and got pregnant in my June cycle, my next period should have started July 15. My cycle is 33 days long.

Planning our 4th VBAC (my cs was way back in 1989) I've had three super successful VBAC's -- 1994, 2003, & 2008...and this next one is expected in December of this year. This will be another homebirth for us, hopefully in the birthing pool!

I'm planning a home VBAC. DS was born at 43w1d via non-emergent c-section for FTP. During the surgery, we found a true knot in his cord, so I'm at peace with the decision (and I guess he knew what he was doing up there!). Everything went well and we should have no problems this time.

I had a c-section w/ my first in 2006, and a VBAC w/ my 2nd in 2008, and so would most doctors probably still push me to do a c-section? The only reason I "got" to have a VBAC (the doctor was always resistant to doing VBAC) was the baby came super fast.

I'm going for a vbac. DS was born in 06 via cs for being a very very stubborn footling breech. In our town there is one dr who is really well known for his support of vbac mamas but he is not covered by our insurance and I don't know yet where we are going. It is great to hear from the moms here who have had multiple vbacs.

Viola41, I guess it depends on your practitioner. I've had friends who have to work to convince their cp to vbac each time.

I had a c-section after a failed homebirth with my first baby. He turned at some point in labor and presented feet and butt first. NJ protocol is to go to a hospital in that situation so that's what we did. Now I'm risked out of doing a legal homebirth this go around so I'll be using a very vbac friendly doc in a vbac friendly hospital. I may even get to do a waterbirth there. I'm pretty sure I can as I can't see why a c-section would risk me out of doing one.

I am joining the vbac club! DD was born in Feb '07 - planned homebirth, but c/s after labor started 2+ weeks after due date, followed by long long labor (although a good one, if that's possible!), sharp pain on my pubic bone leading to hospital transfer, many hours of pushing and still no baby. I was one spent exhuasted mama.

All that leads me to believe that my c/s was the result of 1st time birthing experience and fear. Just wondering what everyone is planning in terms of preparation for your vbac?

I've had the book Birthing from Within recommended. I'm also planning on a doula this time, going with hospital based midwives who had a 100% vbac rate last year, and maybe trying meditation throughout pregnancy to work on relaxing the fear/worry.

I would love to keep this an ongoing discussion. I know I will need the support and encouragement.

Yep This will be my second VBAC, my first 2 kids were c/s, #3 was a VBA2C.

Yes, I am planning on having a vbac. Not sure where yet, but having one.

It'll be my 2nd VBAC as well. 1st baby was early and breech.

I'm planning a VBAC too, DD was c/s 6/08. I don't even know which state I will be living in when I give birth so it's hard to plan but that's what I am shooting for.

Wow I am so encouraged by all the VBACers!! I am still leaning towards repeat c-section. I am mostly afraid of going through the long labour, long hours of pushing and exhaustion and to end up with another disappointing c-section that I think I am just going to go ahead and schedule one. I had it because my baby was brow presentation ( forehead facing up, as opposed to chin down ). I support you all though and I too would like to see updates all throughout our 9 months.

Yes!
I just had my first c/s four months ago (emergency, due to fetal distress.) But I am planning a VBAC this time. There will only be 13 months between my births, but I'm feeling pretty good about it.

HBAC - or UBAC...will see how comfortable I feel when we get there! hehe

I had my c-section in September 2005 due to my son being breech and near 11lbs. It took me a long time to reover emotionally from that but I am at a good place now!

Legally in this country, you have a right to birth wherever you want (homebirth is covered in this - they can not force you into hospital). They also encourage vaginal birth, despite c-sections because c-sections are more risky and cost the NHS (national health service here) more money - whilst homebirths are much cheaper all around. ...Despite this, now that I am telling people I am pregnant and that it will be HBAC (I dare not say UBAC possible! lol) - I am getting a lot of 'they won't let you do that' and 'thats dangerous!', etc... Never realise how un-informed people were and the stigma around vaginal birth after c-section! I just can't wait to have this baby and show people I DID it!

I had c/s 2/07 with DD after prolonged naturally induced labor and attempted homebirth. This time around, I will have a VBAC.
