Misinformed regarding Gardasil vax

Thread Starter
I have a friend who recently tried to convince me that the Gardasil vax protects against not just genital warts but general warts that can show up anywhere on the body. Through my research, I understand that Gardasil only protects against the genital warts that are a result of having sex with an infected person. My friend is married and in a very monogomous relationship thus I was encouraging her to forgoe the vax since she's not particularly in the risk group.

Can someone confirm my information or if I'm wrong pls let me know. I hate being misinformed. Also does anyone know of a good website (aka user-friendly - not too much medical jargon) with some information I can send her??

Great post!

The vaccine protects only against certain strains of HPV, some of which cause genital warts, and some of which can lead to cervical cancer. There are more strains of HPV than the vax can theoretically protect against.

A pap test is still the best defense!!!

It is my understanding there are over 100 strains of HPV. The vaccine covers three of them. Once those three have been eliminated (?) 97 are there to jump in and take their place. Who knows what they can/will do. We are helping viruses to evolve at an unprecedented rate. It is totally unnatural and we have no defense against those newly elevated viruses.

Isn't it astonishing that for $500 a dose and no proof that it saves more women from dying of cervical caner than a pap smear that this thing even came about!!! Too many people sleep at the wheel!!!!

Did everyone see Dr. Christiane Northrup came out AGAINST the vaccine? She is probably one of the most followed OBs in the country.:

Because people are so fearful of getting cancer it will become a trend in the future to see more vaccines claiming to protect you from cancer.

As for the OP and her friend getting the vax while she is married and in a monogamous relationship. Where is she getting her information? If it's from her Dr. she's just getting misinformation. And if it's from her MD then he's most likely getting a bonus for every vax he gives.

Thanks for everyone's responses. It can be really frustrating when someone you know and care about is just accepting these chemicals into their bodies without hesitation and while being uninformed all at the same time.

By the way.....anyone have a link that they recommend???

I think it's actually 4 strains 2 that may lead to warts and 2 that may lead to cervical cancer.....

the best link is this one

http://www.merck.com/product/usa/pi_...ardasil_pi.pdf

tell her to read the whole thing..especially the ingredients and side effect sections.

It clearly states what types of warts it claims to protect against (GENITAL WARTS CAUSED BY HPV STRAINS 8 AND 11)

You should also send her some information regarding the clinical trials for this vaccine. Instead of comparing against a placebo group, the "control" group received a shot that contained the same toxic aluminium adjuvant that is in the Gardasil shots. That way Merck could then say that the "control" group suffered the same side effects as the vaccine group and tehrefore the vaccine was deemed "safe".

That is vaccine "science" for you!

"Pregnant women. Physicians are encouraged to register pregnant
women exposed to GARDASIL by calling 1-800-986-8999 so that
Merck can monitor maternal and fetal outcomes (8.1)."

Umm, I am too paranoid or does this sound really bad???/

Wow! I'm surprised this is in there. They found in the trials and on VAERS that this vax is known to cause spontaneous abortions.

It's normal. They can't test on pregnant women so they record data from women exposed accidentally (those who had a vaccine or drug but didn't know they were pregnant).

OP, does your friend get pap smears? If so, then why would she need the vax in a monogamous relationship? To prevent warts elsewhere on her body just doesn't make sense to me. Does she get a lot of them or something? I agree her doc prolly just wants to make the $$ off her.

How old is your friend? Don't they only recomend the vax for women under 25 (or is it 35? I just know that I'm too old. ) It would make sense if they did an HPV test on her when she goes for a PAP smear, but I can't imagine why she'd be offered the vax if she's married. If she was 18 and single it would make more sense.

It's very possible that her GYN offered her an HPV test (test of cervical cells, collected at the same time as the PAP smear) and she got confused.
