Easing gently into homemade skin care....need advice, please...

I used to be a "toiletry queen" with oodles and oodles of body care products. I still love 'em, but have curtailed my buying and stockpiling habits sharply over the last 5+ years. I have decided once I run out of face care products, I am going to use homemade versions. I am almost out of my first product and am feeling a bit uncomfortable about the idea, but am willing to give a few ideas a try.

I am nearly out of eye cream. I have plenty of SPF facial moisturizer, but it doesn't help the skin around my eyes. I tend to have normal/oily skin that is sensitive and I need something soothing around the delicate eye area.

What do you recommend for around the eye area only while I am still using up other products?

I have unrefined coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil in the kitchen. I have a rather large collection of essential oils. My carrier oil is sweet almond oil. I could just start trying them one by one, but I thought I'd tap into this forum's resources and ideas first.

I have seen rose hip seed oil mentioned frequently here but I haven't tried it myself. Here's a thread about it Rosehip seed oil really really works.

I'm not well versed in essential oils but most of the info I searched around for mentions to keep the essential oils away from the eye area.

I think any of the oils you mentioned that you already have (coconut, extra virgin olive, sweet almond) would be good to try. I have used extra virgin olive oil as an eye makeup remover. I use a mix of jojoba oil and EVOO on my face as night moisturizer, and that works fine for me too as an eye cream. I'm just a bit more gentle and I use my ring finger very softly and pat around that area.

Starting small is a great way to start out. Give one of the oils a try and see how it goes!

Thank you!!! You reminded me that I purchased rosehip seed oil specifically for the eye area once my eye creams were gone. I cannot get to my EOs right at this moment, so I didn't look in that box first. I feel a sense of peace, though, knowing I already had this researched and thought out and ready to go. Now to get the furniture rearranged between two rooms so I can get to my EOs (and other items)...

I use coconut oil as a moisturizer on body and face, including the eye area. It works great, and I love keeping things simple!
