My head is spinning!!!

Thread Starter
I am new to CD even though my baby is now 9.5 months old

I wish I would have just started when she was born but I wasn't sure of myself, soo here we are now. Anyway, I just got my first diapers (Yay!), i ordered 2 (yes, only 2) FuzziBunz One Size all-in-ones, without the hip snaps. They were on sale at naturalbabies.com. I really liked the idea of one-size because they will grow with her, I can use them for the next one(s) and I will save money.

I have only used them once so far, yesterday and last night. They seem like they don't quite fit her tight enough. There was no leaking, even when she wore one for 10+ hours last night with the toddler insert, but she is a skinny little thing, especially her thighs and if she sits a certain way I can see into the diaper through the legs opening, is this normal?

I'm sure I sound ridiculous, sorry, but I am so new to this and every time I read a new thread on here I find a new term, diaper, name, acronym..and my head is now throbbing.

What would you recommend for my situation? I'm not dead-set on anything but I was planning on only spending $50 or less every 2 weeks (paycheck) on 2 diapers to get a stash going. I would like to get it quicker but don't have hundreds on hand! She is 9.5 months, 17.8lbs and long and slender. She is a major crawler, trying to stand by herself. She doesn't get much diaper rash unless I have dairy. She is still EBF with barely any solids (some puffs or fruit here and there), and she hates to be changed. Any ideas?

Don't feel bad about not starting until now! A friend of mine didn't start until her ds was the same age. We didn't start until 4-5 months.
Anyway, I encourage people starting to try different things. My ds is slender, but not that tall. He also hates to be changed. We do mostly prefolds and wool covers I knit, but if you are looking for the quickest option, that probably isn't what you want. Honestly though, w/ all the folds and ways you can manipulate a prefold, it, imo, will fit a baby better and longer than the snazzy new diapers.
Maybe try a few other one size diapers? The motherease one size fitted fits my slender ds well. He can also wear bum genius (but I don't think the quality is great on those). I do like the tiny tush elite one size diaper. It has a wide range of sizes.
No, I don't think you should be able to see inside the diaper. Maybe try a smaller fit.

I started when my son was 10 months, so I am in the same boat. We also bought one size (OS) dipes, and love them. I would try a different type of diaper next time. We are fans of the BumGenius (BG) diapers because I feel like I can get a better fit with the velcro/aplix rather than the snaps.

I started when W. was 15 months! Don't feel bad.

I started with some used FB's that I got from a friend. You can also look for used diapers on Diaperswappers.com, to get your stash going. Your money will go a lot further if you buy used.

My son also hates to be changed. However, now that he can stand, we change pee diapers standing up, which helps a lot. Still, it makes prefolds difficult, so we avoid those.

I do a combo of pockets (FB's are my favorite) and fitteds with wool covers. All of my fitteds are OS fitteds that I bought used on diaperswappers for about 12$ each.

With the leg gapping, my son has chubby thighs and his do that sometimes. Not a huge deal with pee, but potentially bad with poop. Fitteds are better in my experience with containing nasty poop.
