All schools in our district start September 8 with a projected last day of school being June 18.
Usually we have a couple of snow/ice days though, so going into the third or fourth week of June is not unknown.
Those of you who start school in August--is this a hot weather climate thing? Or a year round school thing? Do you have the usual two weeks off for winter break and one week off for spring break or something else?
I think here in the Pacific Northwest, if they tried to start school in August there would be a LOT of complaining. We only get so much decent (rain and cloud free) weather--so families have to make the most of every summer day!

I remember one year when a teachers' strike pushed back the last day of school into the first week of July--oh, that was horrid!
