If you have a supporting or business membership and would like to see how to create an avatar here is a simple tutorial.

First choose an image.

You can pick something you find from a search, or choose your own picture. If you need help resizing an image simply post here and I am sure someone will be glad to help.

Generally it is easier to size down than it is to size up.

I can't find guidelines for AVs, like are animated gifs allowed? What/where are the guidelines?
Good question! I know those live somewhere but I can't find them either. Hmm. Let me dig them up so we can get them somewhere more visible.

I know that the visual limit is 100x100, file size limit is 8kb, and the admins ask that they be non-animated.

Animated gifs are not allowed, sorry.

we don't really have anything written out for that. We just ask they not be scary, violent or pornographic.
