Books for momma anger

I have read lots of the GD books, and we do GD for the most part. However, I still find myself getting that crazy momma rage. I still find myself (like on day three of hubby being out of town) loosing it and yelling. It doesn't happen often, but I just feel terribly when it does. I also really effects DS for a couple of hours - probably because he is not used to it and it completely saddens him. Any book recommendations for helping *me* deal with *my* anger? I feel like I can't go any further with GD until I get some more coping strategies for my anger issues.

Non-Violent Communication? It helped me have my own internal dialogue to talk myself through my own issues... be my own therapist I suppose. My dh travels too, it's hard. I am at the point where at least now when I do lose my temper, I don't blame them or belittle them- I just shout about how mad I feel. Little steps. Did you read Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline? The basis of it is to develop self-control for yourself, so it discusses how to handle your own upsets.

Screamfree Parenting and any book by Thich Nhat Hanh (they aren't parenting books, he's a Buddhist monk, but they include some essays where he talks about his friends who are parents and what they do to keep calm).

I have the same problem... I just "went" to Amazon and got
  • Without Spanking or Spoiling- Crary: simple and in a workbook format. It's geared to be solutions orientated for a specific problem (your choice)
  • When Anger Hurts Your Kids- McKay, Fanning, Paleg, Landis which I liked a lot since it isn't geared towards all parents who get mad, but the parents who have a shorter fuse, or seem to express their anger more... it's based on a 2 year study on parents
  • Love and Anger, the parental dilemma- Samalin: has more scenarios, and examples of the authors workshop. It helped me to use different words and approaches...

I read through these pretty fast, and look to them often, especially when my husband is away (every other week LOL)

I was really impacted by The Drama of a Gifted Child- Alice Miller Even though it's a little old (80's) and is in the form of psychology papers, it really is a book worth reading.
At the moment I am reading Parenting from the Inside Out- Siegel and Hartzell, which I like already though I have only gotten through the first chapter.

Good Luck! I try to take comfort in knowing that my dd will only benefit from my struggles, cause I am only human, and as long as I am trying to better myself, she will be better for it!
