Nice article.

What I would like to know is how do people like this sleep at night?

Quote:
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, who has received $873,000 in contributions from the pharmaceutical industry, has been working to immunize vaccine makers from liability in 4,200 lawsuits that have been filed by the parents of injured children.
Another thing I'd like to know is why is it that the U.S. is always last when it comes to the health of its citizens:

Quote:
In 1977, a Russian study found that adults exposed to much lower concentrations of ethylmercury than those given to American children still suffered brain damage years later. Russia banned thimerosal from children's vaccines twenty years ago, and Denmark, Austria, Japan, Great Britain and all the Scandinavian countries have since followed suit.
Where are the studies comparing the rate of Autism in Russian children to American children during that 20 year span when thimerosal was banned in Russia?!?

(covered up, I suppose?)

Another thing that really gets my goat is the fact that the government never made it illegal for manufacturers to put thimerosal into vaccines!! To this day, as I understand it, it is only "recommended" that it not be included. Therefore, who is to say that a "test batch" of a particular vaccine doesn't have the thimerosal in it, even to this day? Unless an independent company (anyone know of one?) is out there testing random lots of vaccine from various manufacturers, how can we be sure thimerosal is really OUT of the vaccines!?!? I know they claim trace amounts, but how can we really be sure how much is in each vial??

I think its possible they are still putting it in some of them, not telling anyone, and if they ever get caught... well, no big deal -- No penalties, because its entirely legal!!!

Yes, I was thinking about this very thing the other day when I was reading the press release about the recalled Prevnar vaxes last week.

Quote:
Recall: Prevnar Pneumococcal 7-valent Conjugate Vaccine, Wyeth
DATE RECALL INITIATED:

July 10, 2009

PRODUCT / LOT NUMBER / EXPIRATION DATE:

Prevnar pneumococcal 7-valent Conjugate Vaccine
(Diptheria CRM197Protein)

0.5 mL single dose pre-filled syring (10 per package)
NDC: 0005-1970-50 (10’s)/0005-1970-49 (Singles)

Lot Number: D50002

Expiration Date: February 28, 2011

MANUFACTURER:

Wyeth

Philadelphia, PA

REASON:

Wyeth is voluntarily recalling the above lot of Prevnar®, Pneumococcal 7-valent Conjugate Vaccine, single dose pre-filled syringes. During a routine physical reconciliation of Prevnar® pre-filled syringes, Wyeth determined that a portion of a bulk lot of pre-filled syringes, which was not intended for commercial use, was inadvertently packaged and distributed with commercial product under Lot D50002. The product distributed as Lot D50002 met Wyeth’s quality acceptance criteria. Although some of the units of Lot D50002 were not intended for the commercial market, Wyeth performed a medical assessment and has concluded that the affected syringes present no health or safety risk to patients and that there is no need to revaccinate.

I believe the reason is money.

One group did this. I can't remember the name, though. I'll look around.
