forms of xylitol to reverse/prevent decay?

What forms of xylitol are people doing to reverse/prevent decay?

I have seen the powder and gum. We are already using a toothpaste containing xylitol, but I am wondering if this is enough? LO is just 2, has never been to the dentist, but will soon. I have terrible teeth and I am starting to worry about my LOs potential problems.....

I've seen gum and mints, toothpaste and rinse. I've gotten gum from Epic Dental and I like it, I've never tried their toothpaste or rinse though. I think you're supposed to aim for 6 grams of xylitol a day.

Ok, my mom researched everything Xylitol AND for the most part bought everything as well. Some women get upset about cost but my 18 mo old at the time was facing $3400 worth of dental work - believe me, we have yet to get to THAT cost!

Anyway, there are Spiffies, these are Xylitol wipes that you wrap around your finger and wipe the mouth and teeth with - now at 4 and 2 my children "chew" them and spit them out. www.spiffies.com for info/ www.dentist.net for price and speedy delivery.

SPRY RAIN, this is a spray, very convenient when away from home, You spray 4 or more times in the mouth on teeth, don't give water afterwards. My kids now swish the spray in their mouths before swallowing it. www.xlear.com for information/dentist.net for speedy delivery [it is the same price everywhere].

SPRY Infant Gel, this is a tooth gel basically for infants but we add it to Tom's of Maine Wacky Strawberry toothpaste, and then rinse with the pure Xylitol.

XYLOSWEET crystals is like sugar, pricey but goes a long way when used for a rinse and add to toothpaste. Rinse 1 tsp [=4 grams] + 2 or 3 tsp water makes a good rinse at least twice daily. ALWAYS do before going to sleep - nap and night, DO NOT RINSE OFF WITH WATER! It is supposed to be THE last thing on at night.

Emerald Forest Sugar has some of the best 100% Xylitol candies, best flavors. My son loves grape and licorice. www.EmeraldForestSugar.com

Make sure, if you haven't been doing so, to start low and slow. Some children get loose bowels if given too much Xylitol and others don't. My son did, my daughter didn't. Neither did their cousins.

Anyway, he went from needing $3400 worth of dental work to 1 tooth extracted - he fell, broke the root and developed eventually a draining abscess - and 1 tooth filled. I think the total cost was like $158. Now he is cavity-free.

One last thing, in order to be dentally effective you need to get 6 to 10 (??) grams daily - that's one reason I liked making the rinse [1 tsp = 4 grams]. And my mom was told by Dr Ellie of www.zellies.com that we'd see results in 6 or so weeks. So don't lose heart if things don't happen instantaneously!

Make sure that you use the Xylitol too, mommies can pass acids into their babies and childrens mouths when they kiss them or breathe in their mouths. But if you have Xylitol in your own mouth that won't hurt them.
