Random acts of nakedness

My nearly-4-year-old has a habit of getting nude randomly - around the house only, thankfully.

She says "I like being naked."

So sometimes we'll go into a room and find her clothes in a pile on the floor.

So, am I the only one with a nudist?

Oh, lord no! My LO will be 4 at Thanksgiving, and I am still waiting for her to grow out of the nakey stage. It is actually more inconvenient than anything, since with two older school age children I am constantly having to run someone somewhere (this week each is attending a different daycamp, 12 miles apart) and honestly I can't leave the house, ever, without having to get her dressed AGAIN, often in a completely different outfit. (Where is the hair-pulling-out smilie?!?)
My eldest - I don't remember her doing this. My middle one outgrew it before now. Thank heavens for understanding family members! (My FIL has grown used to being greeted at the door by a stark naked girl child!)

I thought she would stay dressed this past winter, when I had the thermostat set at 67, but even that didn't faze her - and she hasn't an extra ounce on her bones!

Oh, and you said around the house only - we have been other places, and my DD has asked "Can I get nakey?" UM, NO! No, we keep our clothes on here, dear!

Ds1 LOVES to be nakey!!! He throws his clothes off too, and often requests to drive home nakes from the park, etc. I oblige, nak

You are so, so far from being the only one!

My close-to-4-year-old comes in the door, and leaves a trail of clothing between the door and her playspace. I don't bother to get her dressed until immediately before we go out, unless she complains of being cold. I don't even care if she strips naked when her little friends are over (because most of them are nudists too )

OTOH, occasionally she will surprise me by showing up for breakfast already dressed. : And she does, frequently, go through several changes of clothing a day, for no reason that I can discern. I figured it was just life with a person for whom dressing and undressing herself was still a novelty.

I have met very few parents who's children didn't get into a habit of taking their clothes off at completely random times.

It could be worse, my brother never cared about where, you had to watch him or he'd strip down in the middle of the supermarket.

Yeah, we do find it to be a pain whenever we go anywhere. Especially since DH is the sort that always cuts his time short (i.e. goes to the post office 15 minutes before it closes, runs to the town dump 10 minutes before it closes, you get the idea). So we're always in a last minute thing where DH is calling to me "can you get her dressed?" (because he usually takes DD on his errands).

And it uses more laundry because she'll dump her clothes "wherever" and either I can't find them, or I can't find the whole outfit, or she dumped it somewhere that I wouldn't care to put it back on her (near the kitchen trash can?).

Oh, and she's the same way about cold - doesn't touch her. We keep our thermostat fairly low (62-63F) in winter, but it doesn't bother her. I've learned to stop worrying about it. In fact, in general I just trust she's warm - even when she's clothed and we're going outside and she doesn't want a coat, I just bring a coat and don't try to force her to wear it.

A few months ago I went to a birthday party where 2 or 3 of the 5 year olds stripped down and spent the party that way! (It was a party hosted by a very crunchy family, with crunchy guests).

Heck, our entire family practices "random acts of nakedness" around the house. (Great phrase, by the way )

We, too, have a 4-year-old nudist in our midst. DS is naked as a jaybird even as I write this! He sleeps in the buff (has done since he's been out of diapers otherwise he gets too hot while sleeping), so it's only natural that he spends the first several hours of the day with nothing on. He's not bothered by chilly temps, either, and he particularly enjoys doing singing and dancing "performances" sans clothing.

Like PP, random acts of nakedness also sometimes occur around our place, so this may be why DS feels very unselfconscious about the whole thing. He's not interested in stripping down in public places, so that's no problem. The challenge is trying to keep my super-prudish mother from overdressing him when he's over there. She insists on putting him in pjs when I've expressly told her that it's unnecessary and he gets TOO HOT.

Both my boys used to always run around naked. Like.. always. Colwyn's sort of grown out of it, though he still spends a significant amount of time in just his underwear. Lachlann would spend all of his time naked if I let him.

Unfortunately, with Fiona walking now and wanting to play with the boys, she's gotten a little grabby with them. So I try to make sure they both at least have underwear on if they're playing with her.

Just the other day a girl at the playground told DD that she was *gasp* still in her pajamas. DD laughed and said "I'm always in mine, I sleep in my skin."

We are about 50% nudist when at home, 25% panties only and 25% dress up lol.

i swear my dd was born a nudist.

in our case she practises random acts of coverdness.

she lived in her diaper as a newborn. she too can withstand really cold weather. cold hands and feet but refused any specific covering except tshirt when going out.

almost 7 years old and its still once in a while i will see her clothed. if casual guests are over she puts on underwear.

she has lived more of her life naked. i STILL find balls of clothes everywhere :

My girls are nudists.

The first thing they do when they get home from going somewhere is take their clothes off and throw them in a pile. They like to go out back and get naked. I have found clothes in the bushes.

DS is the opposite - just this past month he aquiesced to sleeping in a tshirt and underwear without sleep shorts or pants. That was major. DD, on the other hand... She taught her big brother how to undress himself. He was almost 3, she wasn't 2 yet. Keeping clothes on this kid is a challenge at best, though she does do ok in most public settings by now. She just turned 5.

Oh you are SO not alone! My 4 1/2 year old is the same way. It really adds to my laundry for the week too because she ends up going through many different outfits in one day. Ugh! Glad to see that mine isn't the only nudist around though too! Thank goodness our backyard is pretty private because that seems to be her FAVORITE place to go naked.

I never had this problem with her older brother. With him, I just have to make sure he isn't trying to pee out in the front yard or something. Lovely.

This is so my DS! We go to a class one day a week and there is a fountain outside the building. Naturally, he likes to stick his hands and feet in the stream of water and of course, gets wet. Then we need to drive home nakey. I think he gets wet just so I will let him ride naked.

At home he will strip down and race thru the house yelling "I'm nakey!"

my almost 4YO dd is a nudist as well! she insists on sleeping naked too and if she does happen to fall asleep in pj's, she takes them off in her sleep. she tells me the same thing, "i like being in the nake!" it doesn't bother us and she always wears clothes when out, so the naked time is just at home...

Lovin the Nakey stories - DD2 is becoming a nudiest at 18mo! If she gets wet, its all over, everything has to come off, even her diaper. Inside - outside -everywhere! My neighbor used to tell me she has never seen DD2 wear shoes - boy you should see the looks I get now! As DD1 would say - it's summertime - why wear shoes?

Our rule is that you can't go outside nekkie pants.

Chased ds(3) down the sidewalk as he shrieked with delight- naked on his scooter today. Caught up with him half a block down. Had to apologize to neighbor lady, watching the whole thing across the street with her two little girls. Not sure if they were horrified or amused. Maybe both.

Ds1 has to be in jammies all day (have to fight him to put clothes on when we leave the house), and ds2 (almost 4 yr old) loves to be naked.

He absolutely HAS to be completely butt naked when he is pooping though. It's hilarious. We can be at the mall and he has to strip down to go #2. He is afraid of getting poop on his shirt, and he says he can't keep himself on the toilet if he has bottoms on.
