Halloween costume ideas

I need ideas for a unique homemade halloween costume for ds. He'll be 13 months at halloween but he's already in 24mo clothes. Any good ideas? Also he HATES to wear hats so anything with a hat is out!

I'm subbing because we are invited to a wedding recpetion on halloween and so I need *good* costumes!!!! (ds will be 2 but is a 3-4t and then stuff for dp and me!!!)

I haven't looked at the links but some off-the-top-of-my-head thoughts for hatless cuteness:

• clown-big floppy collar and cuffs, fun printed jumpsuit, spray colors on his hair, face paint and a foam rubber nose (if he's up for it)
• ghost-white sheet/robe wrapped around his shoulders, face painted white with big black eyes, hair sprayed white
• birthday cake-painted cardboard cylinder hanging from his shoulders, with cardboard candles coming out of the top. Put him in pants to match the color of the cake, a shirt to match the candles, and paint his face/hair as a flame.

Martha Stewart usually has some good costume ideas.

I made a mummy costume one year and my ds wouldn't wear a mask or hat either. I just cut muslin in strips and sewed it around an old sweat suit and then sewed a couple dozed plastic ants in various places.

I made my DS a super easy, super cute scarecrow costume when he was 2. I got old jeans and a flannel shirt from a thrift store, fabric glued raffia around the edges, and glued a couple patches trimmed with raffia here and there. He had a straw hat but the costume would've been fine without it. I got SO many compliments!

construction/repairman
superhero
spidersweb-white outfit/shirt with black (marker, paint) cobwebs on it and plastic spiders glued on.
cookie jar-white shirt write "cookies" on it, glue cardboard cookies on it.
pile of dirt-dark brown outfit/shirt with plastic worms glued on can have him bring a construction truck for it.

My friend did this too and it was sooo cute, but instead of raffia, she used yarn so it wouldn't be scratchy.
