newborn and overnight diapering

My 7 week old is already sleeping 6-7 hour stretches during the night. We are currently using infant prefolds with BSWW covers. Needless to say, I am finding that they are leaking and she is completely soaked (the diaper, not her clothes)! They aren't leaking a lot, but enough that warrants a change of clothes. So what do you all do when your LO's start sleeping longer stretches at night? My friend suggested going up to premium prefolds and medium covers (she is 11.5 lbs), or should I try to use a preemie prefold as a doubler or use something else altogether?

When they start sleeping more I switch to pockets stuffed with hemp.

i would try the infant prefold with a preemie. id think a premium would be way bulky around the waist, but i guess that doesn't really matter if its just for night time diapering. i use a thirsties cover with an infant and a preemie for night time for my dd. it lasts fine for her about six hrs, but for some reason i think she pees less during the night than during the day.

I also like pockets with hemp inserts. We actually are moving to BG AIOs because they are a stuffable AIO. We put JoeyBunz hemp doublers or HempBabies inserts in.

My BSWW always leak. The Thirsties never do.

I usually, though, get my 3-month-old in a big fluffy fitted diaper at night, more absorbent.

What about a hemp fitted with wool longies? Or even just putting wool longies over the prefolds you're already using. If its not a huge leak then the wool would soak it up easily and save the need to change her pants.

Two prefolds (infant sized if they still fit) snappied under a Dancing Bears fleece cover.

You really can do any of the above. There are so many options that will work! I would start with what you already have, and if that doesn't work, then look at making some other purchases.

We are more often than not using a fitted or prefold with a hemp doubler for night with a wool soaker over top. But we also have good luck with a fitted and doubler with a thirsties cover, or a pocket diaper with at least 3 inserts.

You'll find something that will work. Yay for getting a good chunk of sleep at night! I'm due with #2 in 3 weeks and don't exactly look forward to waking up every hour or two again. Who knows, maybe this one will sleep longer than #1 did.

Add a doubler, or double diaper.
