The Colony - Post-apocalyptic reality show

Is anyone else going to watch this? I watched the first episode which is on the Discovery Channel. It throws together 10 people of various backgrounds - engineer, nurse, doctor, machinist, etc. - in a 50,000 sf Los Angeles warehouse. There is no electricity. They have to scavenge for supplies.

It's interesting. It's similar to Survivor without the Tribal Council and manipulative mind games. I'll probably watch it but there is no way The Colony show can capture what a real post apocalyptic LA would be like. These people are aware they are being taped. They know at any given moment they can go back to their real lives complete with flushing toilets, pantries full of food, washing machines, etc.

I'm watching - and yes, that's the main 'thing' that I have with it - it seems/feels ery scripted, and they aren't really surviving 'on their own'.

I ranted, madly, at the screen initially, because the violated the number #1 rule of setting up camp in a foreign location - security, FIRST.

And then, how they are arranging sleeping/living quarters? ARgh.

But, I'm hoping to maybe pick up a few tips/learn something - I think it'll be interesting.

I'm hoping I'll learn a few tips too although I told DH that if there is an apocalpyse I want to die quickly and painlessly. I'm not too sure that with all our respective medical issues we would be able to survive after civilization is gone.

I liked how they used charcoal to filter the water. That was neat.

One of the things they would be doing in a real situation is having everyone take turns on night watch. How can everyone be asleep at the same time?

My husband and I watched this, it was really amazing seeing everyone's interactions and how real it became to them.
