Dessert for 9 on short notice?

I was just asked to bring dessert to tomorrow evening's get-together. There'll be roughly 9 of us. I will not have the chance to go shopping for specialty ingredients until tomorrow morning... so I can make something simple tomorrow, or something more complex today if i have the ingredients at hand.

But I'm drawing a blank. Usually I have more time to think about it.

On hand I have the basic staples, butter, flour, sugar, cream, milk, honey, chocolate, etc. I have lots of fresh seasonal fruit (CSA delivery was this morning).

I made cookies last time, so I don't want to do that again.

The ice cream canister is in the freezer, but it only makes a quart... split between 9 that's not enough on it's own, but maybe to accompany...

ANybody have any brilliant ideas for me?

Does it need to be super-fancy? I would just make a basic cake (yellow, angelfood, pound) and then top it with the fresh fruit and some fresh whipped cream. Maybe add some vanilla extract, Frangelico, Amaretto, etc. to the whipped cream depending on what fruit you use.

That's what I was going to say.

They may not be the healthiest desserts, but Kraft Foods usually has quick and easy desserts. Some look fancy, even though they take hardly any time or ingredients.

Two things that came to mind are apple-blackberry crisp (or just apple crisp) or peach cobbler.

There is a really quick and easy way to make peach cobbler if you don't mind shortcuts. Two cans of sliced peaches and their juice poured into a 9 x 11 glass dish. Cut peaches into bite sized pieces. Pour a dry yellow cake mix over but don't mix! Top with pecan or walnut bits. Melt a cube of butter and drizzle over all. Bake (don't remember the temp or time but am sure it is online somewhere). I'd guess 350 for 30 minutes but I'd watch it. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

I make crisp with thinly sliced, peeled apples and frozen blackberries over top. Mix oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and a couple T of flour and some melted butter and top with that. Bake and serve with ice cream.

Have blueberries....blueberry cobbler? I made this after we did you pick...very tasty. Subs apple juice and added 1/2 t cinnamon to blueberry mixture. My oldest DD made it with me (7).

The first thing I thought of was lemon bars. Angelfood cake with fresh fruit sounds good too.

I'm making an ice cream cake!

Make ice cream with the fruit from your csa. Make a crumb bottom (even shortbread crumbles would be yummy!) melt some chocolate melted with a bit of butter and some cream and pour that over the chilled crust. Chill while making the icecream, then pour it over the base and freeze. Top with chocolate shavings!

I'd definitely go for a crisp, cobbler, or buckle, depending on your preference and what fruit you have. If you made some homemade ice cream to serve with it, that would be a bonus.

Cobbler and ice cream is a winner for me! Talk about easy, too!

So... do I make peach cobbler with maple ice cream or cherry cobbler with honey vanilla ice cream?

Cherry with honey vanilla, definitely.

Oooh, they both sound good. But aren't cherry cobblers usually made with sour cherries (I guess I'm assuming that the cherries you have aren't sour cherries)?

Simple but always a favorite:

Chocolate peanut butter brownies. Make chocolate brownies and as soon as they come out of the oven put on some globs of peanut butter so it will melt. Once it does, spread it on. Once the brownies are cool, frost with chocolate frosting.

Serve with ice cream

I would vote cobbler/crisp and ice cream. Elana's pantry had a blueberry crumble posted not too long ago that was grainfree and looked yummy. I am sure it would work w/ other fruits as well though. Icecream is always good.

Oh, and I have seen a few roasted banana coconut milk icecream recipes that I want to try.

What kind of fruit do you have and is it adults or adults and children?

Fruit pizza is fun and easy

You make sugar cookie dough but spread it on a pan in one giant cookie, bake and let cool.

Take some sweetened cream cheese and spread it all over

Slice up your fruit and spread it around the "pizza"

It's all adults. The only kid is the one in my belly (well, there might be a 20 yo, but I don't think she counts).

Off the top of my head (without looking in the box again), I have about 6 pounds of cherries, 4-5 pounds of peaches, 2 pounds of nectarines, 2 pounds of plums, 2 pounds of green grapes, 2 melons (cantaloupe, galia), and a pineapple. Oh, and some apples, but those are my breakfasts (they help with the morning sickness).

ETA - and I forgot 2 pints of strawberries.

I'd keep it cool and simple by making Peaches and Cream. Peel and slice the peaches. Add sugar to taste (I'd put about 1/4 cup for every 5 peaches), mix and let sit in the fridge for a couple hours. The peach juice and sugar will form a nice syrup. Serve by putting a couple big spoonfuls of peaches and syrup in each bowl and drizzling with unsweetened heavy cream. Super easy and very yummy!
