what are the best OS dipes out there?

i'm looking for:

ease of use (DH friendly)
durability
size compatibility

also, do you prefer snap closure or velcro? cost is not a consideration here as i will spend what i have to in order to get a good quality product.

also, how many should i buy? i do have some converted pf's (that i made to save $$$ with DD) as backups.

I really like the bumGenius organic one-size AIOs. They are totally worth the price. FuzziBunz one-size are super-adjustable and an excellent value. Rocky Mountain Diapers are very trim, even when cinched down to newborn size. Gro Baby are a one-size AI2 and also great. I generally advise getting snaps b/c they are more durable.

...The only thing about snaps, though, is that you don't get as close of a fit as you do with velcro. On the other hand, velcro is a pain in the butt IMO so you just have to weigh your options.

I love the BG organic AIOs and the regular AIOs. The regular AIOs are great for night because they also have a pocket and I can stuff a hemp babies doubler in. No leaks for us!

I just bought a Bum Genius organic and about 8 bg pocket os. I am so in love with the pockets!! The organic must need more washing thogh bc it just leaked big time and was not totally wet inside. I am not a huge aio fan bc of the drying tim but the bg organic dried faster than most of them do.

For pocket dipes, my fave is TinyTush of all the ones I've tried. Has held up very very well. Comes in snaps or aplix - I like the snaps, particularly for durability. We've always gotten a good fit.

Yes, bumGenius organics must be washed 4 times prior to use, and they will continue to gain absorbency over the next 6-10 washes after that.

I love the BG organic but I prefer the velcro that is being discontinued. I don't mind snaps but I prefer a side snapping diaper.

We've used BG 2.0 pockets exclusively for the past 28+ months and love them. I'm due in 2.5 weeks and would like some new ones (some of the legs are a bit stretched out - fine for ds, but probably not for a newborn!!). We have 40 - theyve held up fantasticaly!

Another vote for BG Organic AIO. BGOS pocket is also very nice-great for nighttime-but if you have laundry issues is harder to keep clean. Velcro/aplix tends to be more DH friendly, if yours is anything like mine, they get confused by all the snaps!

I am loving SoftBums!
They are nice and trim on my 3week old (though I didn't love the fit until his cord fell off). I love the fit- even dp is impressed.
You switch out the snap in insert at each change (you can use the cover 2 or 3 times with different inserts). Still easier than a pf or fitted + cover, but slightly more work than grabbing a pocket and putting it on (of course, *someone* has to stuff the pockets).
They are velcro. I am finding I dislike all my velcro dipes except these. The laundry tabs work well, and there arent any scratchy edges. I have no idea how they hold up though...

I have some used BG's That I had converted to snaps. The velcro was REALLY worn- they had been used for a year as part of a small stash. They fit ds well at about 10lbs. I've read they get outgrown kinda early though.

we are leaning towards the tiny tush dipes, but i think i might order a few of the BG OS and try them, too.

thank you all SO much for your input. i did homemade converted pf's (snaps/velcro/elastic) so i'm up for the extra work. dh is actually better with the snapping things than i am LOL

I like the BG 3.0s, except for the velcro, especially now that Marion has learned to take them off. I'm adding in more HH OS because they now make a OS model with snaps.

And I really like the FB perfect size - I know they make the OS now, but the perfect size have such a good weight range and are a good price so I don't mind having two instead of just one to last until potty learning.

We've moved to GroBaby since I've got a 2yo and a soon to be newborn and want to use the same dipes. Since babe three isn't here yet I don't know how well I'll like GroBaby for the newborn phase, but they've been working great on tiny dd2. While I do think snaps hold up great, I prefer velcro because it let's me customize the fit (so far my two kiddos have followed very different growth curves so I needed something that could fit very different shapes).

My favorite OS dipes are Baby Kangas and Haute Pockets, both with snaps. I also really like SmartiPants one size dipes. We've tried quite a few kind, including BG, HH and TinyTush.

Hands down, Baby kangas with Haute Pockets in a very close 2nd. I've only got 1 SmartiPants in my stash, so I haven't really gotten the most use out of it and can't vouch 100% for it yet... but as of now, I love it just as much as my BK's and HP's.
