She was 4 lbs 11 oz. Thankfully she was fully developed (there was some concern about her lungs).
She developed jaundice. I am Canadian, so our system is a little more relaxed. She was in the NICU for a week due to the fact that I insisted on breastfeeding. They would not allow her to go home till she reached 5 lbs.
The first day I was so sick I could not even see her. However after that first day she only received my milk (I pumped and she was supplemented with my breast milk through a tube through her nose till she could nurse enough on her own.) I had to be quite insistent, some nurses really felt they had the right to give my daughter formula to "help her".
She turned 5 a few weeks ago and is tall for her age, smart and beautiful.
Hang in there. It is super scary but the more you rest and the longer that little bean can stay inside the better and easier it is for everyone.
So wishing you much luck!!!!!
