Anyone try to make shampoo like Wen?

My mother is hooked on Wen shampoo, or they call it a cleansing conditioner.

She'd like me to make something as similar as possible as it doesn't harm her hair colour and it works great. I'm not fond of all the ingredients as they're quite scary sounding, LOL, but I'll give it a whirl if I can.

Apparently it takes 16-30 pumps of this stuff to clean your hair and it doesn't lather. To me it feels just like a thick conditioner.

Anyone have any ideas? Any recipes for something that would qualify as a cleansing conditioner?

Many cheap conditioners work great for hair cleansing. People call it "conditioner only" washing, or CO for short. Among the regular conditioners that work great, I like them in this order: VO5, then White Rain, then Suave. If you want to avoid fragrance (like me) Cure Care Conditioner from Sally Beauty works great. It's probably my favorite.

I have not used WEN, but many who have say the cheap conditioners work just as well, and are, of course CHEAP! If you want to learn how to do it properly, you can go to

where you can find many discussions about this. Or you could just do a web search using "conditioner only washing". Lots of stuff will come up.

Wen is so expensive.  Salon graphix makes the best comparable product and does NOT contain wax.  Rite Aid Pharmacy sells it.    3 types to buy and at $7 for 16 oz, (goes on sale for $4) you cannot beat it.. I think it work better than Wen...
