Motherease OS and covers

I just received some Motherease OS that I was so excited to purchase. I realize that they are designed to grow with my babe, and I haven't looked at other OS diapers, but these things look huge! It looks like the material between baby's legs would bunch up uncomfortably, but I haven't seen/tried them on a real baby. Anyone with btdt advice about these?

Also, I was looking at ME covers and thinking to order a couple for early on (I'm trying a couple of several different brands, so that I'll know what I like when it's time to move to the next size). I mostly have prefolds in my stash, with a couple of these OS and fitteds thrown in. Do people prefer the ME Riki Wraps or the Air Flow?

Thanks for your advice.

I don't know if we have any photos of these on MDC but there was a very long thread about ME products on diaperswappers with lots of pics.

I prefer Rikki wraps. IME, MEOS only work with ME covers. The air-flow wraps are kind of poofy, the rikkis have gussets and will work better with prefolds.

I loved using the airflow covers. Yes, poofy, but nice to adjust at the waist and the legs

I started using my MEOS on my baby when she was about 6 weeks old. Its takes a while to get used the bulky look but you do get used to it. I started with the Medium sized AF covers cuz I knew that babies grow very fast at the beginning and I wanted to save money. I have only good things to say about these diapers!

I was thinking about the Rikki Wraps because it looks like they can be used with prefolds and other fitteds, as well. I'll need to re-look, but I thought it said that the AF worked only with ME's.

So I couldn't use, say, a Thirsties wrap with my MEOS?

Also, Ola, could you tell me where to find the pics on Diaperswappers? I haven't spent a lot of time on the site and find it harder to navigate than some others, for some reason.

Thanks!

I just bought my first ME cover. I'm not overly impressed. I use it over my prefolds I made that are rather bulky & it covers no problem but I don't find it is as nice of quality as the other covers I already have (mommy's touch). I also find the direction the snaps do up (front over sides) is awkward.

A lot of wrap-style covers, Thirsties included, just didn't seem to be full-cut in the legs enough to completely cover the diaper, so we'd get wicking at the legs. I love the ME one-size, but I agree they work best with one of the two styles of ME covers-- we like both. We also used the ME one-size with our wool covers-- Disana covers and my own long-legged handknit covers. They also work well under a pull-on style pant like the Bummis Whisper Pants (not the whisper wrap, but the pull-on style) or Dappi nylon pants. If you want a really trim fit over these, pull-on nylon is your best bet. They're poofy on their own, but they scrunch down to literally nothing under clothes, because the nylon is so thin you can literally see through it. No leaks, no extra bulk, and cute in that classic white cloth diaper way.

I've used ME OS for both my boys and absolutely love them. I only used the air flow covers with DS1 and have no complaints. A few months ago someone gave me some sugar peas fleece covers and those are working very well too.

They are bulky but my boys never seemed to mind.

At night i add an extra insert and that gets us through the night even when he's nursing 6 times a night. :-)

The core of my stash for much of dd's infancy was snappied pf's with Mother-ease air flow covers. I loved them, but, they're hard for other people to figure out--the covers tend to get put on inside out and backwards, especially the ones that aren't print. Rikki wraps are great because they work over ANY kind of diaper. But, with prefolds I prefer Bummis because the Velcro is less scratchy.

I didn't use MEOS on dd when she was a n00b but I do plan to try them (I have 4 that I didn't get around to selling) on this new one and see how they fit.

ME Airflows have always been my hands down favorite cover. With the new baby on the way, I'm strongly considering a mainly Motherease stash. Just haven't decided between Sandy's & their OS.

MEOS started fitting my children well once they were around 13-14 pounds, about 7-8 weeks old. They are wider in the crotch than many other diapers, but that was never a problem. I have only used the Air-Flow covers, not the Rikki Wraps, but they are great covers, very durable and leak-proof in my experience. The Medium and Large sizes last the longest - my son wore the medium covers for over a year, and my daughter has been wearing them for about 10 months so far. The Large covers still fit my son about 10 pounds beyond the suggest weight range, though he does not wear diapers any more. Only the Medium-Large size seemed to run true to size, or perhaps even slightly smaller. The Air-Flow covers work well with Snappied, or especially, pinned, prefolds, in addition to the MEOS. My [lazy] nieces figured out that they hold trifolded prefolds adequately, too, . The other covers we have used with MEOS successfully are Aristocrat and Disana wool soakers, Llamajama longies, and Bummis Whisper/Cotton Whisper pants. I have to add that MEOS have given us our money's worth... they are now in their 39th month of usage, with very little indication of wear and tear.

They can be big on a newborn... especially a little newborn. They can do for a big 10 pounder though...

My all time favorite diapering combination for an infant day or night and an older baby at night is a motherease diaper with a nice wool cover. This combination is so comfy for the baby, and I have NEVER had any trouble with rashes when my little ones are wearing this combination.

I use the airflow covers sometimes, but honestly I don't like them much.... the edges aren't soft enough for me and I just don't like the look of them... crappy prints. I know this is trivial, but still... I prefer resorting to prefolds and bummis covers for that.

When you put a big diaper on a little baby, it's important to remember that little babies do not naturally put their legs together anyways. They like to be froggied up, and that is sort of aided by a big diaper.
