Who's nursing an older DC?

Hey ladies. I haven't posted an intro yet, because, well, I'm not sure if I'm pregnant yet. But, I'm still nursing my DS, 20mo, and it's driving me CRAZY. My nipples don't hurt, per se, but it's super annoying to have him on me, and I can't stand to have him latch on, let alone nurse. We're still nursing at least three times a day, but usually more like five or six, though I don't know how much he's getting. It's mostly for comfort/pain relief, I think.

You?

I'm not currently nursing my DD, but I got that same annoyed, antsy, get-off-me feeling that I had to fight off pretty often the last few months we nursed. But she weaned herself at 22 months -- which I was SO READY FOR because of those creepy crawlies.

I'm still nursing DD2 who is 23 mos. I'm sooo ready to be done! Especially at night. We've cut it down to 1-3 times in the day and then she still wakes every night at 4ish to nurse. I gave up on that one because it was so much easier to give in and go back to sleep than fight it for the rest of the night. But now I'm definitely having that, GET OFF ME! feeling and just don't want to do it anymore. Not quite sure what to do next though.

I actually quit nursing my son 5 days before I found out I was pregnant... fortuitous!

I nursed him for exactly 2 years and 5 months.... I will be glad to have the next 9 months nursing free before baby comes...

Just found out I'm pregnant today. Still nursing my 25 month old, and I'm hoping to continue.

I'm still nursing my 4-1/2 yo, but we're now in the process of weaning. She was nursing 3x/day, but we've cut it down to two and will likely be cutting down to 1 in the next couple of weeks and then done a couple of weeks after that. She's saying she'll be done by the time she's 5 (in December), but I'm thinking we'll be done a little sooner.

still nursing here -- 30 months in august. boobs a little tender but we're ok so far. i think i'll be ready when he's ready, but i'm in no rush either. we'll give a tandem a shot if it comes to that.

DD is 23 mos. and we are still nursing. I have loved it so far. Not sure what I want to do about partial weaning or weaning or what. Reading How Weaning Happens.... My fantasy would be that my supply would go down and she would "self"-wean -- I put that in quotes because I believe that by getting pregnant I would have contributed to it, so it wouldn't be "pure" CLW, if there really is such a thing. Won't do anything before her 2nd birthday next month. We are also still cosleeping, which I think is related to the EBF.

Still nursing a 20 month old DS. Not much during the day, but still nursing at night. Probably about 6 times or so in 24 hours. I nursed DS2 till he was about 26 months and I was about 6 months pregnant. Thinking it may about the same this time.

I'm still nursing DD2, at 20 months. I would be okay with weaning soon, but she is very attached, and I think it will be a while.

Wow, great thread. I just found out I am pregnant a few days ago. I am nursing my 21 month old. More at night than in the day. He seems to need to nurse much more in the last week or so. My dd weaned herself soon after I found out I was expecting her brother (14 years ago). Here's hoping for a smooth transition for all of us. Congratulations!

maybe supply is dropping, and he is trying to rebuild it?

I think for my DS, that it's a change in taste or something, and he's searching for attachment.

My original post made it seem like I hate nursing him, and I totally don't, but sometimes it's incredibly annoying. When he was little, I could sleep through our nursing sessions at night. Now, I either wake up until he's done, or I sleep in another room. Some days, of course, he still STTN, but not usually when I'm in the bed.

And my nipples get irritated so much faster than they used to. Of course, they get like that when I'm due for my period, too, so I can just explain it away.

I am! x 2 actually. DS1 will be 3 at the end of the month and is still nursing quite a few times a day (sleeps through the night though). DS2 is still exclusively breastfed.

I have absolutely no idea how many I'll be nursing come April. Two for sure (I don't want DS2 to wean before age 2) but I don't know about DS1 either way yet.

I am nursing my 17 month old DS and he has majorly increased his nursing lately! What's up with that?

I am still nursing my 16 month old.

I am still nursing my 14 month old. Should I be eating differently to support me, baby and dd? I feel awfully hungry already and I wonder if maybe I need the calories.

I would definitely eat whenever you're hungry. If nursing requires an extra 200 calories a day, and pregnancy an extra 300, that's a whole extra meal.
