Our sweet little girl arrived 7/25! Exactly on her due date. 7 pounds even, 19.5 inches, lots of black hair! No name yet---we have 5 days before the midwives have to file the birth certificate, so we're on a deadline there!
We are still learning to breastfeed but I think it is going well for us being newbies. Still waiting for the first wet dipe, but she's had SO MANY meconium ones I guess it could have been hidden in there somewhere.
I delivered at an independent birth center under the care of midwives, and was able to go completely 100% natural! I am so proud of myself, but I will say that my main thought during every excruciating contraction was, "of course people get drugs for this!!!" But I made it through. I did end up with a shot of pitocin after the placenta was born due to blood loss. The labor was VERY intense. My contractions started out at 1:30am on 7/25 at 3 minutes apart, and our daughter was born 7.5 hours later. I'm not gonna lie, the contractions hurt like nothing I've ever experienced before in my life. Somehow I was able to disassociate from the pain and make it through, but don't ask me how! DH ended up catching the baby. He is so proud of himself, and he was a great birth partner.
I am just so thrilled with my birth experience! The only rough spot was that I had a fainting episode on the toilet a few hours after the birth...my pulse rate has been high all day. The midwives think it is a combination of blood loss and the fact that my labor was so fast and intense. I am still feeling a little weird, but mostly okay. I know I need to get some sleep.
LO is currently sleeping in my lap on the Boppy. She will not sleep unless either right next to someone or on someone, so I'm awake!! I am hoping DH will give me a reprieve in a few minutes.
I can't believe I'm a mom! Wild!

ETA: We decided to name her Lillian Frances! I also have a picture!

Great job birthing, and I hope you recuperate quickly from the blood loss. Lots of iron-rich foods and water!!
Good catching, dh!
