Hi,
we adopted a very cute although fat guinea pig from the Humane Society on Friday. Now we're wondering if she's pregnant? Is there any way to tell other than just waiting? She didn't look fat at all in the picture on the website so it was a surprise to meet her in person.
She has the typical lightbulb shape and the "bulge" moves from side to side depending on how she's resting. We've thought we felt movement a couple of times but we're not sure. Today she weighs 2.4 lbs. and we will continue to weigh her. I listened to her heartbeat with a stethoscope and I could hear hers but not any baby's.
She's very sweet and loves people. At the Humane Society, they didn't say anything about it and I didn't think to ask. I asked why the previous owner gave her up, and they said that they didn't have time to take care of her.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
