Want to suggest some fish?

We have a 26 gallon, freshwater tank. It's 21 inches deep.
Currently all we have in there are 5 zebra danios, 1 ghost shrimp, and a pleco. We also have a betta that will be added in soon. We're just completing the nitrogen cycle and I'd like some suggestions for what next. We're moderate level tank owners, so semi complicated fishies are ok.

I think the pleco has to go - while they do come in a ton of species, a lot of them sold in pet stores get a foot long - obviously WAY too big for your tank! I gave away a pleco that outgrew our 75-gallon tank. Often you can take them back to the pet store for credit.

A handful of otocinclus would be wonderful in your tank, or 3 or 4 small corydoras catfish.

In a smaller tank like yours, I love a school of small, colorful fish. I had a school of about 30 cardinal tetras in my 75-gal planted tank, and they were fabulous! We have a 75-gallon (Australian rainbowfish and the cardinals), a 65-gallon (clown loaches and ghost cats - used to also have angelfish until they died of old age - one was 12 years old!), and a 58-gallon, with tiger barbs.

In a tropical tank you could have anything that stays small and friendly. We had to downsize from our 125 gal to a 29 gallon temporaly until we move in a few months and we have an angel, otociclis (sp?), 2 cory cats, 3 neons, 2 red minor tetras, 1 rainbow shark, 1 betta and 1 golden loach.

I would add some male livebearers for color like Endlers.
