I am not sure about your state. But in the State of Ohio, you would file a complaint with the Ohio Civil Rights Division. They investigate to determine if there has been discrimination and after all your agency remedies are exhausted, then you can file lawsuit.

Also, you might want to look up an article for a month or two ago that happened in PA where a daycare signed a contract with a pool. When they showed up with different ethnicity of children, racial slurs were made by other members and then their contract was terminated by the pool.

I would contact more than one news station, I would contact all of your local news stations as well as your newspaper(s).

Edited to also put in ---

Try contacting first right. www.firstright.org they handle a lot of breast feeding discrimination stuff (as in education and stuff, not legal) and file a complaint with them. I would also look at any of your local special needs resources and file a complaint against the pool with them.

It's outrageous for this manager to draw mention to your child's handicap. Does he know that the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits discrimination based on disability? What point is he trying to prove? Cornelia, just stay calm and let this guy dig deeper into his own mess. Talk to your lawyer and keep doing what you have legal rights to do. You deserve a public apology.

Shocking outrageous. What does he think LLL is? :

I've been thinking more about this, and have decided to feel pity on someone whose life includes so much bigotry, hate and confusion.

I have to tell you that just because he was military or an ARMY officer doesnt mean he knows jack about anything law related lol i'm not sure where you came up with that but its a misconception. I just wanted you to know that most dont know anything law related unless they are a jag officers or a military police officer and military law is worlds different from civilian law so he doesnt know anything about anything trust me lol. I nurse around military people all of the time because I am a spouse and prior military noone says a word to me and if they did I know ga laws too . i know most of them def do not know laws in what is acceptable and what is not for nursing a baby in public though. The guy is retired too and probably doesnt have anything better to do with his time than harass nursing mothers which is ridiculous and I hope you seriously nail him he deserves it.

This is hilarious. I know it's got to be TERRIBLE for you- I can't imagine how hurtful and frustrating and...ugh...this must feel, but I'm just shocked at how much he just handed you- contacting LLL (what exactly does he think LLL is for???) and disregarding their advice, making assumptions about your kids, mentioning their handicaps, PUTTING IT ALL IN WRITING?!?!

Have a field day with this. Seriously. Don't let him make you feel yucky, just enjoy putting him thru the ringer. This guy deserves every bit of it.

Hippiemommaof4- I think the OP meant that the manager should know better than anyone that if it's a LAW or a RIGHT- then there is no way to "reason" around it. Meaning that because he served in the military that he defended our RIGHTS and our FREEDOMS- not that he specifically knows the laws and all that they entail.

While I see your logic there, OP, I don't think that just because someone is or was a military member that they stand up for everyone's rights and freedoms and laws "just because" they were in the military. They follow orders, and those orders allow US the freedoms and rights that we have. All of the service members I've known joined the military to defend America's Freedom, keep us safe from physical threats. I'm sure there are people out there that joined for other reasons.

OP- I hope you hear from you Lawyer soon, have you also contacted the other media networks? Newspapers? Radio's? Don't stick to just one station.

I hope your ER visit was handled and that child is ok. I'm interested to find out what the chairman of the HOA had to say about the siuation- espeically now that the manager has put his thoughts in writing via email. Curious.

My best advice, to take a step back and do some deep breaths when situations get nasty, and allow your lawyer to do all the talking. LOVED the video camera idea- just be carefull not to drop it in the water

Keep us posted! Very interesting story.........

what an idiotic thing to do to you.

$10 the bod fires his butt, apologizes to you, and tries to smooth things over. I'm on the board of our community pool and that sort of behavior by the manager would NOT BE TOLERATED, period.

I am just surprised it is taking the board so long to respond to you. I wonder if everyone is on vacation (most of our board is out last and this week).

: Wow, this dude needs more than a stern talking to.
He thinks LLL will tell him how to make you stop nursing even though that is illegal, has an issue because he thinks a couple of your kids are handicapped and had the nerve to admit all of it in writing?! :

Updates?
