Bumping for updates.

Hey Mama - thank you for nursing your baby and standing your ground with people who aren't worth the time.

Wow. That guy just managed to keep on digging himself into a bigger hole, didn't he?

Please keep us updated! Sounds like you've responded to everything exactly by-the-book lactivism perfect so far. Well done for keeping cool in a crisis! I'm sorry the news didn't take the story.

Any updates?

Yes, please let us know.
I am still a little dumbfounded (is that the word?). I just don't get how the number / ethnic background / health status of your children could have anything to do with your breastfeeding your youngest child at this pool. Why bring it up at all?
Thanks for standing your ground!

*edited, oops! why did I think this thread was only two pages long*. I wanted to address *this* however

Not just for lactation, her water might break in the pool. For that matter I've never heard of a kid who didn't pee in the pool so children should be banned as well. Why don't we just ban everybody, you never know when the stomach flu is going to strike, everyone in the pool could have a sudden and unexpected case of explosive diarrhea. Everyone should sit outside the pool and look at it, so as not to contaminate the water.

Oddly connected to your quote, in a way. My parents knew some people who owned a campground with a pool. Apparently, there were some "pee in the pool issues" and this group of adults would all blame the children. So, they experimented one weekend with "no one under the age of 16 in the pool," but didn't tell anyone that there's apparently a chemical that will turn bright colors when exposed to urine-- they cleaned the pool during the week, like normal, and added this stuff to the water. And wouldn't you know....the group of adults that complained about the children in the pool, were actually the ones peeing in the pool! They were pretty embarrassed to find themselves standing in a big cloud! Busted!

Back on topic, I really, truly hope that the lack of an update means that there's just no new news to report, and not that there's a move in progress.

Try another venue, a local paper? Or just go to every local Bulletin board/list serv and spread the word.

Hoping for an update :

The breastfeeding harassment is outrageous but I'm more offended by his comments about your kids than anything.

Those were my feelings, too. Just the whole line about "how many", "what kind" and some even "handicapped"... Is this supposed to make it sound as if you and your family are a bunch of mentally impaired weirdos who don't have their act together?!

So, my Dh informed me the day before Labor Day that our attorney got back to him the very week after the incident. Our attorney instructed me to simply continue using the pool as there is no room for interpretation to the law and it is VERY clear.

Had I known, I would have gone back to the pool with a copy of the state statute, my attorney's contact information and a friend in tow. Instead, I found out the day before the pool closed for the year. Dh insists he just forgot. I suspect he did not forget but was concerned about me.

I've had several things going on since that point and simply went swimming elsewhere for August. I will return next season with a toddler in tow, who judging by the weaning age of all the others will still be nursing at the pool and even more insistent that he be IN the water. I'll take the statute and my lawyer's contact information with me. The HOA never returned our phone calls. And, LLLI basically said good luck to you, glad you have a lawyer.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. Too bad you can't sue.

*mischevious grin* Can't wait to hear an update next June! :-D

If he had a problem with a baby nursing imagine the brain-freeze he'll get when you nurse a little-bit. hehehehehe If he's even still there.

Boy would I ever be tempted to organize a play-date-nurse-in. Crap like this really burns me up. Grown adults attacking helpless infants. Um - hello? The baby needs to eat. Get. Over. It.

at your dh. Make him pay for you to use an indoor pool some place in your area this fall.
