can anyone recommend some wholesome yet exciting free online games for a seven y.o. boy? i just told ds that i won't let him to play icebreaker (anyone familiar w/ it? i'd be curious about your opinion) b/c it involves zapping these very cleavage-y women-- he and my nephew were calling it "cutting the fat ladies" , by which they meant no disrespect, but it freaked me out-- i didn't realize this was part of the game originally-- anyhow, it was the end of the world for him so i'd love to find him something equally or more engaging since i don't see ruling out computer games entirely. i really would prefer no killing of anything. he would like something w/ different levels.
thanks so much in advance....

http://www.fantasticcontraptions.com (VERY fun puzzles - no violence whatsoever)

http://www.lego.com (especially the Junkbot games)

http://webkinz.com (a little bit of 'zapping', but very tame. However, you have to buy a stuffed animal in order to 'belong')

http://www.pbskids.org (my kids love the Cyberchase games)

http://scratch.mit.edu/ it's actually more of a downloadable toy, but any kid who likes computers should get a chance to play with it

Oh, and http://www.ninjakiwi.com/Games/Bloons-Games/Bloons.html maybe starting with http://www.ninjakiwi.com/Games/Bloon...ns-Junior.html

The bloons tower defense games are fun too. No killing or bad guys, just lots and lots and lots of balloons. That monkeys throw darts at.

my daughter likes:

Neopets (sort of similar to Webkinz, but free)
Casual games at the Reflexive site, especially the hidden object games and Shift and Shift II
Some of the Cartoon Network games -- none of the ones I've seen has inappropriate content
Disney.com has tons of free games -- memory games, racing, strategy, things like that.

My DD really likes Wizards 101. Its format is a bit like World of Warcraft, but I'd rather have her play this than WoW with us.

This one isn't very "game" like, but she also likes Edheads.com for the simulations. Knee replacement, Hip replacement, car crash simulator.......they're all cartoony graphics, but she's been replacing knees since she was about your son's age.

I was going to suggest Wizards 101 as well. My 9 yr old and 7 yr old boys are really into it and have gotton a few of their friends at school into it as well and they play together.

If his interests lean towards superheroes at all, City of Heroes is good. My friend's 7yo son has played since he was 4 (starting out with a bunch of variants on "BeNiceI'mFour" to stop people from asking why the character was repeatedly walking into the wall). That does have a monthly fee though.

He also likes Peggle.

The only online thing he plays is Starfall.

wow, it's like a whole new world opening up.... well, he's for now very excited about the bloons junior (thanks, sapphire chan!), which i feel okay about, and it feels very reassuring to have all of these other possibilities as backup if that starts getting old after a while.... it'll be fun to check them out. thanks y'all!
