Sookie Stackhouse...?? - Page 2

I've read all of the Sookie books, all of the Twilight books, Sunshine, Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, The Historian, and many of the Count St. Germain books by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.

They are all very different.

Sookie and Twilight are fluff. Sookie books have a sense of humor/tongue in cheek, Twilight does not. I should note that I really like the Sookie books. Twilight is okay, but is way overrated.

The Ann Rice books and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro books are all about the tortured vampire. Chelsea Q. Yarbro always sets hers at a certain point in history, so they inform about the era too.

The Historian and Sushine are two very unique books. They don't really fit in with the rest.

Just some other ideas if you want to read a vampire book.

I've read all these except the Sookie books now.

Sunshine was good to me. Almost like Ann Rice meets Stephen King. Lol.

I'll finish reading the Sookie books...i mean, they are an easy read and I always like something easy to tote around in my purse.

The Historian was interesting, but not memorable for me. Good, never the less, but not epic to me.

You're right, they are all good books!! (though Rice's vampires will always hole a special place in my heart. Lol. )

I am of the same opinion. Vampires live forever and she could not have children. However I don't think Sookie could be with a normal human either. I'd prefer a shapeshifter for her.....

[QUOTE=Viola;14175514]Part of my issue is that I don't really like to see people end up with vampires. Not that I'd join the FotS or anything, but for some reason I'd like to see her end up with someone more human.

I listened to one while working out - audio book. I'm not sure which number it was. It definitely wasn't number one. I want to say it was number 3 or 4 or maybe 5 ... I think. I couldn't really get into it either. The only reason I finished it was because it was an audio book, and I listened while working out.

Vampire fluff is a good term for it!

I seem to root for the shapeshifters in every book.

I'm rooting for Sam, too. I've read all of the books, and no matter what, he has the most integrity hands down.

Charlaine Harris says that she knows how the books are going to end. I hope it ends with Sookie and Sam together, but who knows?

I agree with other posters about Sookie + Vampire = No future.

Well, with modern medicine, she could certainly have a baby without the vampire being the bio dad if she were so inclined. But I just don't feel a burning desire for motherhood from Sookie. Maybe because of her childhood, she really seems to feel a need to be the nurtured one.

And she has said over and over in the books (not a spoiler, because it comes out very early in the first book) that she can't be with a human guy because of the mind-reading thing.

Yes, but she is only 25. I did not want to have children when I was 25 either.

As the Britlingen Covache said "the vampire,by definition is Twisty and deceptive"

I just got the first book! I really loved the show so I really have high hopes for the Sookie Stackhouse novels.

I know it's vampire fluff but I really hope it's nothing like Twilight. I couldn't read past the first few pages of the Twilight book. the writing was just unbearable and there is just too much teenage angst for my liking.

What I loved about the premise of this story is that the narrator is a telepathic and the vampires are out in the open! I really hope it's as funny and intriguing as the show that's based on the book.

Rambunctioucurls - as is typical, I think the books are much better than the show.

Something that is different from the show, however, is that the books are all told from Sookie's point of view. So some of the storylines from the show are not in the books.

I think Sookie is way funnier in the books. The thing that disappointed me about the show was that in the books Sookie is no size 0. Don't get me wrong, Anna Paquin is going a great job, but I kind of wish they would have gotten a person that physically represented Sookie (and a lot of the female population) better.

I was also disappointed in the actor chosen for Sookie.. I don't think she is a 0, though.. I was remarking to dp the other night that I thought she was awfully flat chested with a big booty to be Sookie. but granted the episode we were watching had her running through the woods in plaid shorts and the plaid basically went from her butt 'center' and WIDE OUT. Probably wouldn't have been that flattering on anyone.. I remember from the book though, they talked about men staring at her chest/cleavage a lot, and the actor in the shows doesn't HAVE cleavage.

Maybe, because I've seen the show first, Sookie seems alright to me. Beautiful and voluptous.

I do like the fact that the books are all about Sookie. She doesn't just fly off the handle so easily as she does in the show. There's a lot that happens between her and Bill that I found endearing. Same with her and Jason.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the book.

I already posted this question in another thread but have not gotten any answers yet, so maybe I'll have better luck here.

I have a question for all you Sountern Vampire Mystery series fans.

I just finished the last book "Dead and Gone".
I am so sad that there are no more Sookie Stackhouse books left to read! I've been reading them all summer and have been enjoying being in Sookie's World.
I hope a new book comes out soon!

Do any of you have any recommendations what to read now?

I like what I guess is termed “urban fantasy”, paranormal things that happen in the real world. The Sookie Stackhouse series is my limit for violence. I can't take any more than that. I like the fact that there is humor. I also loved Twilight.
Thanks!
