So tired I can't stand it! Plz help!

I posted here a while ago about feeling tired all the time, I was advised to try cutting out grains and gluten/wheat as they had been the main causes of feeling really tired for other people on here.

Well I have cut out grains and gluten/wheat for 3 weeks and I'm not feeling any less tired.

I have been tested for anaemia and thyroid problems, they came back fine.

So what else might help me? I sleep around 9-11 hours a night, I have been drinking 2 litres of water daily, cut out grains and gluten/wheat. My diet isn't high in sugar. Yet I'm completely exhausted most of the time, I could fall asleep sat up on the sofa or even laying down on the floor. It really sucks.

I think I feel more tired after eating too -not sure about that I'll have to take more notice of it. So could this mean I should try cutting out something else in my diet? What else food -wise can cause tiredness like this?

I think the tiredness feeling is now starting to make me feel really irritable aswell, I've had enough of it! Plz help.

Hmmm....have you tried posting this in Health and Healing? My first thought was depression, because of my own recent issues. I was super tired all the time and gained some weight. All my tests came back fine...my doc got me to try some anti-depressants and they worked. Mind you, I have a history of depression, but it usually manifests in a different way.

You cut out grains... but what *are* you eating? Without some idea of that, it's hard to say if you're having a nutritional deficit or if there's liable to be something else going on.

I agree w/ cristeen perhaps post a menu so maybe we could brainstorm if it is a diet issue or something else. You could still be eating too few or too many carbs and it could cause tiredness or it could be something totally different.

How is your thyroid? Mercury fillings in your teeth? Any other heavy metal issues, lead, arsenic? Eczema, loose or constipated stools, reflux, antacids, antibiotic use, yeast issues?

something that has worked well for me is that instead of drinking water all the time i started making lemonade with lemon juice and maple syrup. it really helps me through the afternoon, not sure why but it works for me!

yeah it could be a lot of things so more info is necessary. chronic fatigue syndrome came to mind, but that might be because that's what we thought my sil had for awhile. if you're having blood sugar issues i think it's possible that any sugar at all could be making you tired. the thyroid testing you had done may not actually be reflective of the health of your thyroid. many people come back testing in "normal range" and are still hypo. adrenal fatigue is another possibility.

Perhaps it's sleep apnea?

I don't have any advice, but I can commiserate. I feel *exactly* the same way.

I agree with this.

What was your TSH number specifically?? The range for "Normal" was changed. Some docs just don't know/understand to look for other symptoms; that the diagnosis takes more than just a #. Many of us still feel awful hypo symptoms even within the new range of normal. Mine needs to be below one, but the range goes up to 3.

Unfortunately, these days, we have to do our own research and then tell the doctors! I would recommend asking the doctor to send you a copy of the lab results. Google for hypo thyroid symptoms and see how many you have. If several, get a copy of Mary Shoman's Living Well with Hypothyroidism.

Good luck mama.
