There is something wrong with my cat.
He's been losing weight and I don't know why. Someone mentioned that it could be worms? Whatever it is, he needs to see a vet, but we cannot afford to pay for a visit right now (or in the foreseeable future). We took him in last year when he got sick and it ended up being over $300! This is our first pet and I had no idea that vet visits would be so expensive. It just wasn't something that occured to me when we were looking at the cost of having a pet. We rarely go to the doctor ourselves so I just didn't even consider that a cat would need to go in more often than we do!
I've been searching for a vet that has free services and can't find one yet. I'm starting to worry that we might have to take him to a (no kill) shelter because we can't afford to provide medical care for him. That would break my son's heart (the cat is technically his pet). But I can't just ignore the fact that there seems to be something wrong with him.
Does anyone here know of any resources I can try to find free or lower cost vet care? I would be willing to go into Battle Ground, Portland etc.
