Today my friend Melanie arrived at the Fortuna Health Sport in northern California to take a gymnastics class. She drove an hour and a half to get there. Newborn and cranky 3 year old in tow. She began nursing her baby as soon as she arrived and was asked to cover up or go into the locker room. She told them she is protected under California State Law and they said they didn't care, that it was making the women there uncomfortable. These same women who were wearing skimpy exercise clothes showing nipples and butt cleavage!@!!

We are contacting Le lech Leaque and staging a nurse in next week. If you are in the area please stay tuned for details. If you are not, please call Health Sport and voice your support for breastfeeding and let them know how important it is for everyone to become comfortable with the site of a baby nursing. you might consider seaking an apology from upper management before planning a nurse-in. they are probably just ignorant and need to be educated rather than punished.

Come on California?! I would say start with an call and letter to see where this goes and be on standby for the nurse-in if the place does not issue a proper apology. Seriously why do we KEEP having this a NEWBORN people.
